Tried to set a brad wrong and broke the smaller eyelet setter piece, and it stinks b/c I never use the bigger eyelets.......ugh!!!!!! I just bought another one, the hole punchers and bigger eyelet setter still works on the broken one but still....
NOPE....it's not broke! The same thing happened to me.......
Spin it around and punch another eyelet. The lil guy will pop right back out. I promise.

I had this happen when a friend borrowed mine, she gave it back and just said she had all kinds of trouble with it, i thought it was broken when she gave it back but it had an eyelit mangled and jammed in it so the piece you are talking about was stuck inside and I was able to get it out also like the gal said above! Hope you can get it to work, I was relieved when mine popped back up, I am sure yours will too!

I'm not sure what happened, but I messed up the first time I used mine. I used it upside down, and I got an eyelet stuck in the b section of the top, pryed it out and used my embossing gun to smooth it out again. Just fine now.
i got mine the other day and i am afraid of it lol it..I look at it and tried it and i dunno if i pushed to hard but my eyelet looks like a sick pancake...ugh...that has been 1/2 eaten it split and is flat.
Good Morning ladies we are snowed in UP here in the North Country, 13 inches that started out as freezing rain on Friday night so slippery roads they even cancelled church,.........but what really bummed me out.......I was supposed to go to an TAC show last night and it was cancelled (hubby didn't want me to drive in this weather anyway) but my girlfriend was the demo and had designed a cute scrapbook page I was excited to make ;)........oh well maybe I can get her to still let me make it......hint hint stampinscrappinqueen! ;)

Yikes, you must of really punched on that eyelet if you broke your Crop-a-dile! It's a pretty heavy duty tool. I agree with beena..you must have some muscles!
I really did break my first crop-a-dile.:( Goober me was setting the eyelets wrong - I was putting the pokey part of the tool (part C) into the long part of the eyelet rather than the front of the eyelet that you see on the finished product. Anyway, I now know that I was setting the eyelet ONTO the crop-a-dile. The first few I did got kinda stuck, so I pried them off, looked at the instructions again, and went right back to doing it wrong. After a few, one got so stuck that I had to really pry it off. When I did, little pieces of the "A,B,C,D" piece of the crop-a-dile went flying off in several directions!!! I gathered them all up and realized there was no way it was ever going to work again. I bought another one, and had the lady at my LSS show me how to use it. I felt really silly, as it seemed obvious once she explained it to me and I looked at the directions AGAIN. Love my new, not-broken crop-a-dile!!!
Honey if my mom's crop a dile has survived all that she has put it through, there is hope for anyone! She didn't buy hers for scrapbooking purposes...that came later, she has used it for fabric, plastic, you name it!
 not sure what I'm doing wrong but my crop-a-dile kinda collapses my eyelets! It is fantastic for snaps and everything else but I can't seem to get the eyelets to come out nice:( Am I just pushing to hard? I find that they don't set properly if I don't squeeze it enough.......either way I still love it!
you can definatly squeeze too hard and wreck your eyelets. and of course not all eyelets are the same so some ya gotta squeeze harder than others......I alwasy squeeze lightly first and then take a look. if it's not completely set, i squeeze again.
yes, I believe I broke my crop-a-dile; I passed it on to another person as only one part of it was broken. The ABCD piece got all loose. Also, I have bad hands/wrists, and I really couldn't get everything aligned, and squeeze without whincing, and have it all come out correctly. I do not think I ever set an eyelet correctly before it broke.
See me squinting and whincing and bending at the waist all the while trying to have paper and eyelet and crop be horizontal to the ground.
well, maybe that picture would make a great stamp!
Crop-a-dile was sent away, now I just buy SU aluminum eyelets and they are so soft, it is easy to set them.
I love my crop-a-dile. When I gave my sister hers for Valentines day she used it upsidedown and I thought for sure she broke it as the pin for lack of a better word got stuck inside its self. We just took the cube out and flipped it around and it poped back out. I think this tool is pretty indestructable.

You are definitely not alone. I did a similar thing...incorrectly tried to set a snap. The small eyelet post is gone. I will try to do what Shanon suggested and set a larger one and see if it comes back out like hers did. I'll let everyone know what happens.

Oh my goodness. Thank you thank you thank you Shanon! Took your advice and it worked like magic! My crop-a-dile is all well now!
I was going to just go out and get another one but luckily was browsing this forum actually looking for something else when this thread caught my eye and voila...another SCS to the rescue! Awesome group here...alwasy willing to lend support and help! Thank you Daisyfreak for posting your problem as well. Hope your tool was fixed this way too.
My little pin gets stuck all the time but it usually pops back out. But for some reason I seem to be able to still use it even when it is stuck. That's what usually makes it pop back out- me still using it. But I love it and I just can't bring myself to go back to the old-fashioned way of setting eyelets. As long as I can use it some fashion- I'm going to!
I broke mine too. Same thing as Daiseyfreak's. I fixed it once but now it's broke again. Glad I'm not the only one who did it. I don't want to spend money on another one. I loved it because it was so easy and quiet.

The same thing happens to me. I know how to set eyelets the "hammer" way, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong trying to set them with the CAD. Can anyone help?
Our local Michaels offers a Crop-a-Dille class. I missed the one that they offered in January and I hope they give another one soon. Seems kind of lame in a way, BUT, I have had some problems too in setting things and I like to see it first hand for instructions - I'm not one to get things by reading how to do it. I really like mine but maybe it can do more than I think so I'm checking out that class - I think its only an hour and it was free. Mary

Instead of using the suggested C3 setting, I use the C4 setting. If you go to this thread: Forums at Splitcoaststampers
Scroll down to #26. I have a posted a picture of how my eyelets set nicely when using C4.
