I had the Blue Bind It All fpr the longest time, then all of a sudden the company came out with pink new and improved pink one. I didn't like the BIA,but wanted something to bind. The BIA has a lot of cons.... Being that you have to watch carefully and try to find the center so your pages whon't hang outside and how to just punch three and so on. I finally sold mine a couple of weeks ago and ended up buying the New And Improved Blue Cinch, and I must say "LoVe CinCh" love love it. You can put any kind of material you can, just like you can do with your crop-adile and the big bite cropadile. I can have two or three even cs. The cinch is so much bigger and more options. Copare the cinch to the bind it all on youtube. There is one video person who did a video showing the difference, by far she liked the bia,and not the cinch. I felt like she was lying because she didn't put the paper in all the way on the cinch and so on. I did howl at her video. For me,I'm so glad I got the New and Improved Blue Cinch.

A friend of mine had,she the only problem with the spiral coiling, when you use that kind, and you're making books and stuff....the spiral coiling comes out cause when you are turning pages the spiral coilbinding turns with anything that is a book.
I rather have my owires keeping my pages in my book a nice tight fit, than worrying about the spiral coil coming and twisting out of the spine.

Oh, I saw that video too! It was so obvious that she was trying to make the Cinch look bad and the BIA great, it like, "who is she kidding".

You should. I watched lots of videos (although I did not see the one discussed above) before I decided on the cinch. It is much bigger, but there are no attachments to lose. The BIA is a lot smaller, which did appeal to me.

As to not sliding the paper all the way into the Cinch, I did do that quite a bit while I was punching copy paper to get the "gear oil" off. Then I realized I had the guide peg (for punching greater than 6 inch projects) engaged. The Cinch people say if it fits it punches, and thus far, that is my experience.

I just bound an SU catalog and made no mistakes. I feel like a pro! It was a lot easier than I thought not to make a mistake.

Someone on the demo side linked a YouTube video. Sorry I can't find it now.

Basically you very carefully put the cover off. Then pull the pages off about 10 at a time. In the end, you will have the back with a big strip of glue. Cut all the pages to about 8-1/4 ". And start punching. You may lose a little of the index when you punch.

My biggest concern was punching the wrong side (punch away from the page numbers) and putting it back in order.

I bound my catalog with the Stampin' Supplies list I print from their website. I also bind the Spanish catalog and its supplies list as well as a slash folder I make from the cardboard that comes with a pack of DSP. I keep my mini catalog and any other promo, dormant sheets in that so it is all together.

Hi, everyone! Like the OP, I'm considering getting a binding machine, and I think I'm getting the Cinch. Is $70 a good price for it? I'm just wondering what it normally retails for, if anyone has any idea, that is.

TIA!

Hi, just popped in to say that Joann.com has the Cinch on sale. Here is the link...

cinch*: Shop | Joann.com

Hope this helps. Oh, and if it's over $40, there is a code for free shipping on the home page.

Hi, Teresa!

I thought I PM'd you, but I guess I didn't...sorry. In any case, yes, it's at Joann.com. And also, I was wrong -- it's $65.00, not $69.00. And the code for free shipping is fsx70 (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post that here -- sorry, mods).

Hope this helps, and let us know if you end up buying it. I just placed the order...

I hand punch and wind my own spiral binding, and you have to use a pair of pliers and curve the ends in, just like on a notebook you'd buy from a store.

Teresa (and everyone interested in The Cinch): it's on clearance at Joann's for $29.99 (final sale). Oh, my God, I nearly fainted at the store! Needless to say, I bought one (and I'm hoping I can return the one I ordered online)...

And to think I dragged my 7-month pregnant self out at 8:00pm tonight for a a quick grocery run (I needed to make a cake for work tomorrow)...and on impulse, I decided to swing by Jo-ann's.

So, swing by you local Jo-ann's and see if you can find the same deal!!!

I just thought I'd share (I'm reeling from excitement!).

i have to drive to the next town today anyways and now i dont remember why, but i do know i want to stop in at joanns. (i hope i remember the real reason i needed to go there!)

the cinch 1 and the cinch 2, are they different colors? is that how you tell them apart? i just started thinking i might like one and then i saw this forum and saw the joann price and now i think "might like" has become "has to have"

Lori, it's the Cinch Version 2. The Version 1 is pink, the Version 2 is blue-green in color. Also, the one I got at J's says it on the box: "Cinch Version 2."

I hope you remember why you need to go to the next town today, but in case you don't, I hope you get enough goodies at J's to make the trip worthwhile (enabler alert -- sorry!).

Mine used to not carry it at all, but I guess the inventory changed over the last couple of months. I called my local J's, and they said some stores will carry it and some won't. Best to call the nearest J's and see (and some might have it on clearance and some might not, too).

Good luck!

Bummer, Teresa. Well, I'm not sure why it's been clearanced, but maybe the price of the Cinch will be dropping in the next few weeks/months? Here's to hoping!

Good luck.

P. S. Yes, I would love to share my projects -- just waiting for some wires that I ordered. Also trying to figure out how to cut the chipboard for covers...

Default cinch 2

i remembered why i needed to drive all that way--my vacuum cleaner is done being repaired. i have two hundred pounds of dogs and 10 days without a vac and chasing around dog hair balls with a broom, was enough of a memory jolt!

whenever i get over there, i have to stop at hobby lobby, joanns, michaels, sometimes even hancock fabrics.

i have taken to squirreling money out of each paycheck, then getting visa gift cards, then having the stuff shipped to my office, so my family doesnt see my purchases. ugh. i feel like a heroin addict!

now, what is a good cutter for chipboard?

Lori, I know exactly how you feel.

And I'm wondering about the exact same thing about how to cut chipboard. I have a Stampin' Up Table Top cutter, but SU does not recommend cutting chipboard with it..

OMGosh!!!!! I have to go to JoAnns to check!! If you don't mind may I ask what state you live in? If you say MI, I might actually have to play sick and leave work right NOW to go to Joanns.

"i have taken to squirreling money out of each paycheck, then getting visa gift cards, then having the stuff shipped to my office, so my family doesnt see my purchases. ugh. i feel like a heroin addict!"

Lori-great idea about gift cards and alternate shipping- even though i shouldn't, i feel guilty about those packages coming for me.
I work in a hospital, but the grossness of puking may work even on this tough bunch!

ok, my nearest joanns does not have the cinch or a carl trimmer. (also online they are sold out of the cinch) is there a higher end fiskar rotary cutter that cuts chipboard. i did have 40% off coupons so i got a couple of stamps. my 21 year old son, likes the whole steampunk trend. he has a guitar pick punch and is using the stazon ink to stamp on the blank pick material before he punches it out. he's a worship leader and in a reg. band, so he goes thru guitar picks. so all was not lost.

I purchased the Cinch version 2 last month - after a lot of research it semed version 2 addressed the coil problems - it did - perfect round coil on first try - so pleased. But here in Canada with no Joannes or Hobby Lobby there is one price (and believe me I searched)but I really wanted it - 149.99 - probably the only craft tool I paid full price for - so plan to use it at least a zillion times!!!
