Red face Bind it All -- pink or blue?

OK Ladies I NEED HELP!!! I am trying to decide which bind-it-all to get. I can pick up the blue Bind It All for $39 from ohmycrafts.com.... however I am not sure if I should wait to get the new one. I read the information about the differences on the BIA website, and I am confused. I am not convinced that the new *pink* one is better. It just looks like it allows to to cut down on a step or two. Please let me know your thoughts... Basically are the new features worth it in a new system? HELP HELP.. thanks everyone. Also, which size coils are used alot... i know there are a few diff sizes, so what is the most popular?

I would go with the "Pink" one. The updates are worth it. I have the "Blue" and I LOVE it.... but, being able to punch cardstock covered chipboard or fabric covered chipboard (think of the ideas) or thicker (many more pages) like the meandering book, is sure worth it... The paper guide is a real plus not having the eye it...

just me,
Faith

I have the blue one and would like the pink one because of the upgrades, but can't justify the expense right now. Just as an FYI, I don't know if you've ever ordered from ohmycrafts.com, but they tend to not be the best with customer service. Their shipping is anything but quick (I live very close to where they are located, but it took well over a week for my few cuttlebug folders to arrive). You may want to contact them first to make sure they actually have it in stock and find out when you could expect it.

Smile Bind It All

I say if you are going to get one...get the pink one. The new features are worth it since you have a choice. At least that's what I am going to do for myself this Christmas. Merry Christmas to me!!!

-sigh- i have my blue one. i just used it yesterday, actually.
EVENTUALLY, i will probably get the pink one. because if it can punch more pages at a time, that'd be nice.

Anyone know when we will be able to buy the pink one?

If anyone wants the blue one, HL has it on sale for 30% off. The coil things (not sure what the right term is!) are 30% off too.

http://kisaspapercuts.blogspot.com/2...l-project.html
Kisa has a great meandering book on her blog. She rocks!!

If you click on "resources" up in the right hand corner here at Splitcoast, you'll find lots of great projects. Go down to Meander Book and you'll find a Tutorial by our Beate.... and then in the gallery, look for meandering book and you'll see what some of the gals have come up with.

When I made mine, I was using chipboard coasters from Bonnies best art tools. http://www.bonniesbest.com/ (this is where I got my bind-it-all) they are heavy duty round corner.... I love them. I cut my cardstock, rounded the corners, and glue them (used mod podge) to the coasters... it was a tight fit to get it into the Bind it all to punch, it groaned, but it punched fine and then I had to get it out....lol...lol I don't think it would be a problem with thinner chipboard.... some have found it easier to punch a few of the pages of the book at a time before they glued it together... I ended up cutting the cardstock the page/pocket size (I know, defeating the meandering part...lol) and rounding all the corners.... yes, I made way more work for myself....

As for coils.... I went for 1'', but should of went one size down... for any of the mini books, if you want to add embellishments... you have to adjust size of coils to make sure your book lays nice and be able to turn pages...

Amysings, are you out there??? You have wayyyy more experience in this.... What coils do we need...lol...lol

Have fun!!!

Isn't this possible with the blue one? I'm gearing up to use mine for the first time and just covered a bunch of coasters with Bazzill and PP BEFORE I cut. Mistake????

As long as it fits in the opening, the BIA will punch it. The only problem is if it is too thick to fit.

I love my blue one and won't be buying the pink. But as for the OP's question, I'd recommend getting the pink...the new features are cool.

I just bought the blue one at Hobby Lobby since they had them on sale for 30% off. Seems like I heard or read somewhere that the pink one will be more expensive. I normally only want the "latest and greatest", but have to say I am happy with my blue one.

I don't own a BIA but just last weekend I used a blue one at my LSS. I had covered the medium weight chipboard coasters with a Tim Holtz DP which was at least 60#, both sides, and the BIA cut through it like butter.

I have the blue one and absolutely love it. I'm not convinced that there are enough improvements for me to get the pink one. Pink would be nice- but I can do everything I need to do with the blue one.
I'd go for the blue!

I have the blue one and I got the pink one. Love the upgrades of the Pink vs Blue but I love the color Blue more than the color Pink lol. :P
I'm selling my blue at a local garage sale at our LSS.

Hugs and Blessings
Alicia

ETA
The coils sizes I use the most are
1/2 for mini card organizer books, small tag books
3/4 for coaster albums, calendars, post it note holders
1 or 1 1/4 for Card organizers

I also have the blue one and I am not (like others) convinced that there are enough upgrades on the pink one to justify the cost. If I had the money I would buy it just because it was pink.

How did I miss this??? Y'all can pm me, ya know! LOL

I love to buy my wires from Bonnie at http://bonniesbest.com

Great quality, great price.

I use mostly the 1/2" or 5/8", and then the 1 inch or 1 1/4".

My blue BIA lets me punch cardstock-covered med weight chipboard. Maybe they all differ a little? The new features sound cool, but I don't think I will be upgrading. I am very happy with how my BIA works. :-)

I have not tried to cut heavy weight coasters--I ordered the medium weight from americancoaster.com What kind of "heavy weight" coasters are you using?

I am not an owner of the bind it all yet, but it is on my birthday list. I`ll go for the pink one because I think they have adapted it according to the suggestions customers have made. So I think you`ll get an ever better one and only a small part of me is drawing by the colour.

I also have a blue one and wish I could get the pink one... again simply because of the color. I didn't even realize it had new features! That would be nice too. I thought the same thing when I saw the pink dreamkutz. It would be silly for me to try to get new ones just because of the color but I do think they look nicer!

Not sure, ordered them online, from Stamp on This, and they said "heavyweight". The blue one cuts through the acrylic covers, right? Then shouldn't the coasters work too. It seems that the acrylic would be thicker than the coasters.
