Default Big Shot not cutting Grungeboard

I'm so disappointed - had big plans. Any thoughts on why my Big Shot won't cut through grungeboard? Is there a trick? I tried a shim (regular printer paper) and it's already a bit of a bear to roll through so didn't plan on trying something thicker.

Thanks,
Perplexed in WA

If your Big shot is cutting heavy card stock then my guess is it is not your Big shot but your die. Some of the thin dies do not have a deep enough cutting line to go through heavier material.
If you have a Sizzix or Tim Holtz die try that and see if it will cut the Grunge board.

Just tried a cardstock shim. Still didn't work. I'm trying to cut using the TH Festive Greenery die.

The Sizzlits dies are not made to cut Grungeboard. You'd need Bigz dies for that.

From the Sizzix site (Festive Greenery die page):

Sizzlits Decorative Strip dies die-cut eye-catching, edge-to-edge borders onto single sheets of lightweight paper to cardstock. Decorative Strip Dies offer continuous charm to any card, scrapbook page or papermaking challenge

Yep, it's the die not the machine. You might just about get it to cut cereal packet weight (I've used one of the alphabet stip dies on that weight and it's OK) but that's about the limit on that style of die. For Grungeboard or thicker chipboard, you need a steel rule die (like the Bigz or the Tim Holtz Movers and Shaper and On the Edge dies).

Thank you, ladies. I had totally forgotten about that. Looking at the die though it totally makes sense. Darn!

Happy Stamping,
Julie

Default Grungeboard

I was successfully able to cut grungeboard with a Sweetcuts die today. I checked in for advise first, which said die cuts are too thin, but decided to give it a go anyway..... I used my Big Shot and it worked beautifully.
