I just got my Sizzix Texturz kit from Michael's and I'm loving it, but I would really miss the BG's from SU!. =( I made my first background with Texturz tonight. I'm so happy I hung on to the fiskars' plates because with an extra shim, I was able to get a great emboss.

I haven't read all 14 pages, so if this has been addressed, I'm sorry to repost.
I just got the machine and dies for christmas. I have never seen it demo-ed in person. Read the instructions and did a trial run.
It left an imprint on the clear mat that goes on top, and subsequent uses now imprint that image on my dies and leave their own imprint. Is this supposed to happen? And if not, how do I prevent it?

It's perfectly normal. Don't worry! You might want to check out just the first 2-3 pages of this thread. Most questions are answered there. Have fun!

Yep, it absolutely is supposed to work that way. The cutting pads are cosidered disposable for that reason. I have used the same top pad for 3 months, and it is very scarred up, but I am not having any problems with it. When it breaks, I'll just move the bottom pad up and pull out a new one from my supply storage box.
I was upset, too, the first time I saw the cut on it!
Have fun!!

Yes, it will - mine is to the point that you can't tell what images I have cut, it is that scarred up. Perfectly normal. Just get a second set of cuttig pads, so you won't be caught without one when this one finally gives out.
It's a great tool - have fun!

It's all Amy's fault (Amysings). I asked in her CB thread about the Big Kick and she told me it can do all the CB can do & more. So I HAD to get it! LOL! I'd been wanting the CB for as long as it's been out. I had an old zip'emate but it's just too small to do much & I can't buy replacement pads for it. This thread said the BK & the BS are the same machine, so I'm so delighted to be able to read this thread for more info.

I am confused already. To emboss with nestabilities, do I need to purchase an additional foam piece of some sort? I read somewhere in this thread that if you buy the crease pad you can cut & emboss all at once with the nesties. Does it not cut into the crease pad? I tried using a cut up piece of that non-slip rubber stuff you can get as drawer liners (I had to get creative with that zip'emate & used these as shims between layers with it!). It cut up the rubber stuff. OOPS! Is there a different foam you can get for this? Do you have to get spellbinders foam piece? What in the world is the crease pad for? I guess I should search for it in this thread!

Thanks!

Chef Mama, the crease pad is made to be cut into - it's like a cutting mat you would use with a craft knife. You can use the crease pad with the Bigz that have creases (scores) on them, or with the nesties to cut/emboss at once. You will see the outlines cut into it but it's ok, it's made for that. Don't freak out like I did! LOL

ETA: Generally the crease pad is used so you get score lines some of the Bigz dies - like the scalloped envelope and stuff like that. But they are great for the Nesties.

OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Now I get it! Okey-dokey. THANK YOU for that info! I get what the "creases" are now that you explained it, too! The pillow box comes to mind. Thanks!

I believe tha Big Shot is the SU brand of the machine, isn't it? The Big Kick is the non-SU version of the same machine.
I haven't made any envelopes yet.

I haven't seen a die that hold 3x3 cards but I do know that there are many envelope templates that you can purchase to make your own!

I will do a search for you!

There are non-SU Big Shots too (I have one). They are both made by the same company (sizzix). I'm not sure why they have two different same ones...

tee-hee! I was actually SO happy for your answers. I really had not considered the Big kick til SU came out selling the Big Shot.

I used my big kick last night. I used my nesties & had that cheap cardstock from Michael's that comes in the packages. I put 3 layers of that cartstock together with a nesties die & it cut through all 3 and embossed it. I guess the thickness was enough to press it into the edge. Of course, my top cutting plate now looks like it's been bombarded with flowers (I was using scalloped circles)!

It's so nice to have all the platforms together. I didn't know it came like that, so was confused when I opened the package. After messing around with trying to create sandwiches out of odd pieces here & there for that zip'emate, this is SO nice!

I got a Big Bite Cropodile the same day as the Big Kick & it has yet to be opened. Too much fun with my big kick!

I'm so glad you love your Big Kick! I totally love mine, I don't know what I did before it. I do know I surely didn't have as much fun! Just don't drop your multi-purpose platform right on the hinges like I did (ewps) or loan it out without strict instructions to not use it as a cutting surface (double ewps). Guess I'll learn, but with the hinges broken and one of the tabs all cut into (and of course it was the really skinny tab so it cut through all the way to the back!), it might be time for a new one. I knew it wouldn't last forever. *chuckle*

Thanks! I had no idea that there was a non-SU die cut machine with the same name. Very interesting!
There is SO much about all of this that I have yet to learn. Finding SCS, and all of you wonderful, experienced, demos, is the best thing that has happened to my SU business!

The Big Kick is sold in retail chain stores like Micheals and JoAnn's you can use a 50% off coupon on it and they are usually on sale.

The Non-SU Big Shot retails for 99.99 just like the SU version. Many online retailers carry it as well as local scrapbook stores.

Default Just splurged!

After reading this for pages and pages over days and days...I have been enabled! Thank all of you for the information and excitement. I will update once my Big Shot and accessories have been delivered and I figure out how to use all of the new goodies...Again, thank you to all of the "enablers" on this group for the convincing!

Thanks for the tip on Ritz Camera! I never knew they stocked these machines. They have the Wizard for less than $67 too! I am definitely going to get it as my New Year's gift to myself. After reading this thread, I have decided that the Wizard is my next machine. Then next I will look at the BS.

I had no idea Ritz carried anything but camera related items, and my son has worked there on and off for three years! Is it something they just have online?
My son worked at one in one of the Mills malls, so it tends to not have everything. Still.....

Happy New Year

The difference is cosmetic.

The Big Shot is either pink and teal, pink and black or all black SU version.

The Big Kick is Red and White and is sold at big retail chains like Michael's and JoAnn's

Both machines are made by Sizzix
Both machines use the same sandwich stacks

Hugs and Blessings

Alicia - did Sizzix re-do the MPP? I just saw a picture of it on Joann, and it looks like it has two thin tabs and then the one thicker tab. My MPP only has two tabs. I need to replace it, so I was just wondering. Thanks so much. Happy New Year!

The MPP should have 2 Tabs and then a thick white Spacer at the bottom.

Oh ok! I guess mine must be older. It has the one thick spacer with a tab glued down on top of it, and then the thinner tab. I kind of like the idea of the two tabs with the thick white spacer. Thanks so much

Thanks for the information. The Bigkick is on sale at Joann's for 50% off and free shipping.

If anyone is interested, the free shipping code is EBD007.
