Yep that's correct there is no SU mark on the one that came from SU. The lettering is all in black

the one from sizzix has red lettering but says the same thing tis just a hair less thick than the SU version. 1/16th of an inch.

The only thing clearly marked with the SU logo are the BigShot machine itself and all the exclusive dies.

The Su logo isn't present on any of the accessories that go with the Big Shot.

Good to know...I'll read your name with the correct pronunciation now. Last time my name was pronounced like that was when I was in my Spanish classes and in Spain.

Anyway.... so..you have both?? And..all of the lettering on the one directly from Sizzix is red? I guess I didn't notice the color on mine. I thought it was red, but that may have just been the "Sizzix" on it. I should have just brought it downstairs with me. That would have been too easy though.

I'm putting an addendum on my .pdf file about the decal being face up so that in the future hopefully no one else will make this mistake. I'll have it updated shortly.

If you are using the Bigz XL dies you will need Extended Cutting pads
If you are using the Decorative Strip Dies you will need the Exended Spacer Platform and Cutting Pads.

If you are using Sizzix Texturz you will need to get the Texturz Starter kit or you can by the Sizzix Impressions Pad and Sizzix Silicone Mat individually.

This slicone rubber mat is used to emboss Spellbinders Dies and also to emboss with metal or brass stencils.

The Premium Crease pad is for Dies that have "crease" lines and it should come with 2 pieces of shim.

Have fun with your new toy!

Wow, So I should get the Extended cutting pads, extended spacer platform and cutting pads

Then the Texturz starter kit and the kit will include what I need for the spellbinder dies (which is one reason I really wanted the big shot!)..guess I'll go back and see if they carry those and if I can get them on the same order for the same shipping....

Oh, I better make sure I'm getting the premium crease pad....

thanks soooo much!!!....debi

Really? The two little pieces of plastic stuff that came with my premium crease pad are supposed to be used as shims? They aren't the size of the full pad or anything. Or are you talking about something different?

go to this site http://www.momsview.com/ritzcamera.shtml

and click on the link to get free shipping on $100 or more. there wasn't really a code but using that link does work for me. there's no shipping in the billing.

if i actually place the $100-$200 order, it's all your fault!

I'll be reading this thread shortly as my new baby showed up today from SU!! It is my birthday present from hubby. I told him this is what I wanted and can I order it. He usually likes to buy stuff for me and won't go for this type of arrangement, but he got cash for his birthday, so I whined and got my way!

Default cuttlebug embossing folders

I'm sure this has been asked already. What sandwich do we use to dry emboss with Cuttlebug embossing folders in the Big Shot? Same sandwich as with Sizzix Texturz plates?

Thanks and sorry if this is a repeat, which I'm sure it is. I gave up after page 5 or so.

I'm not sure it's the right sandwich, but I find that the Cuttlebug Embossing folder works best when you remove all the tabs from the platform. The sandwich I use is as follows:
platform with NO tabs, clear cutting mat, embossing folder with cardstock inside, and lastly clear cutting mat. Works for me!

All of the sandwich stacks are listed as a .pdf file in the very first post in this thread. It's a long post so you have to scroll to the bottom to see all the files.

this is the sandwich I use

Multipurpose Platform Tab 1
Standard Cutting Pad
CB embossing folder with cardstock/paper inside
Standard Cutting Pad
Roll through Big Shot

Another popular sandwich is
Multipurpose Platform NO TABS
Standard Cutting Pad
CB Embossing Folder with Cardstock/Paper inside
Standard Cutting Pad
Roll through Big Shot

I am dying to get a big shot, but I want to wait on the Big Shot Express. Does anyone know when it is coming out? I have not heard a word. I did see an ad for it in Creating Keepsakes December 2008 issue, so it should be soon!

The only read difference is the the Big Shot Express needs to be plugged in and you have to hold the button down once you have loaded your sandwich in the machine to run it through.

All the sandwich stacks will still be the same. Best for those who don't have the strength to roll the handle themselves

I just got my BS yesterday, and it almost seems like the sandwich for the Bigz dies is too thick with just the cutting plates and the die??? I already found that for some sizzlets I had to go down a tab on the MPP. Maybe the opening on my machine is a bit thinner than most? When I run a sandwich with a Bigz through it almost tries to kick it back out. Help!

All the sandwich stacks you need are clearly marked on your Mulitpurpose Platform.

Bigz, Originals and Bigz XL Dies are as follows

Cutting Pad
Die face up
Paper/Cardstock
Cutting Pad (if the die has score lines like the scallop envelope use the Crease Pad instead)
Roll through Big Shot

Sizzlets
Multipurpose Platform Tab 1
Cutting Pad
Die blade Up
Paper/Cardstock
Cutting Pad
Roll through Big shot

Decorative Strips
Extended Spacer Plate
Exteded Cutting Pad
Die Blade up
Paper/Cardstock
Extended Cutting Pad
Roll through Big Shot

It's all clearly marked on your MPP( Multipurpose Platform)

I also have a .pdf File in the Very first post in this thread with all the sandwich stacks for all the dies on the market (Quickutz, Cuttlebug, Nestabilities and so forth)

Hugs and Blessings

I read the .PDFs and that is the exact sandwich I'm using, but it still seems too thick. The cutting pads are older - my bigshot has a sticker on the bottom which makes it seem like it was just sitting in the warehouse for two years. I have to go to Joanns tomorrow - maybe I should pick up a new set of cutting pads?

Do you mean there is a sticker on the bottom of the platform where you build your sandwich? Or did you mean there is a sticker on the underside of the machine?

If your cutting pads are really bowed then it might be time to replace them.

Can anyone tell me the correct sandwich to cut the top note die with the cuttlebug? I have some customers that won't/can't buy a new die machine but would like to use their cuttlebug with this die.
thanks in advance

Should just be (from the bottom up)

B plate
Top Note (face up)
cardstock/material
B plate

The only drawback to using the Bigz in a Bug (oh, that sounds cute!) is that they are *very* hard on the plates. I always had much more breakage than with smaller dies. Like every 20 cuts or so.

That is what I used Amy and it worked great except for one of the flaps was just about cut through. It was still useable but I though it shouldn't do that. I tried 3 times and every time the same thing. Any suggestions??
Thanks

That die is tricksy that way. In the Big Shot, we turn it 90 degrees, but I don't know if it will still fit thru a Bug that way.

You would have to make your stack "less thick." Instead of the top B plate, you can use the Crease Pad--it's too wide for the Bug, so you'll need to trim it down.

The Big Shot Machine comes with a Multipurpose Platform that is made up of
*White Spacer
*Tab1
*Tab2

Each Tab lists different sandwich stacks for all the different dies with the Big Shot.

The only dies that do not need an MPP are
*Bigz
*Originals
*Bigz XL
*Decorative Strip Dies

The Decorative Strip Dies use an Extended Spacer Plate and Cutting Pads

The Bigz XL dies use Extended Cutting Pads

You can find lots of useful information on this in the Cuttlebug FAQ thread as well. It's a sticky at the top of the Tool & Product Talk Forums.

Also this blog Indigo Inklings has a wealth of photos and information about sizzix and cuttlebug combinations.

I'm looking at the two Big Shots at Costco. I'm just very confused! Could you please tell me if they both have everything I need to get started? Which one would you get? Thanks!

i wonder if the "spacer platform" on the teal one is different than the "multipurpose platform" that is with the black one. the SU ones come with the multipurpose platform which is what allows the machine to work with all dies.

not sure if that helps.

The platform is what you need but it is not tabbed like the SU! one is so I think that it is harder to make the sandwiches. I am not positive I do not have one but my mom bought this one and she is happy with it. I will buy the SU one but have not been able to do that yet. You can use all of the big shot dies with it the way it comes I am just not sure about everyone else's someone else may be able to help more.

The Spacer Platform that comes with the Teal and Black version of the Big Shot doesn't have Tabs like the Pink & Black and Stampin' Up! Black version.

You can purchase the MPP separately to use with the Teal and Black version.

All of the sandwich stacks would remain the same. The only difference between these machines is cosmetic

In other words no matter what "color" your Big Shot is it's still going to process sandwiches the same way.

ETA the Tabs on the updated versions of Big Shot (Stampin Up and Pink & Black) act as "shim" to help your sandwiches work more smoothly when you roll them through the Machine.
If you have a Teal and Black version you can easily buy the MPP and you'd be set.

All the sandwich stacks will still be the same. Best for those who don't have the strength to roll the handle themselves

ETA You can pre-order it at memorymakingcrafts.com Tell Cindy that I sent you. Her customer service is outstanding!
I pre-ordered my Big Shot Express from MemoryMakingCrafts.com The cost was $125 plus $12.50 for shipping. Of course a bit later I found it cheaper at www.paperdreams.com. There it was $108 plus $9 for shipping. I contacted Cindy at Memorymakingcrafts.com and they would not match the price. So I cancelled the order and ordered it from Paperdreams. MMC also charged me a $1 Palpal fee (I used my visa) and they charged my account immediately and not when the product was to ship. Needless to say, I have made my first and last purchase from them!

Default Cheaper Big Shot

I purchased from Scrapy Land and I believe my cost was $69.99 with no shipping charges. I'm very happy with my purchase.
