best ink jet printer

Can anyone recommend an Ink Jet printer for printing on heavy card stock 80 to 120#. I want to print my digital stamps and color them with copics, but my printer jams up every time. :-(

Sorry, I don't have any suggestions on specific printers, but you should look for one with a straight paper path (goes in the front and comes out the back). The heavy cardstock will get stuck if it has to curve too sharply (goes in front and comes out on top).

I have this printer and like it a lot. I found it on sale at my Walmart Supercenter for about $70. It prints color and black and white very well. There is a top feed for the paper in the back, so you can load cardstock. The paper goes through the printer and comes out the front, but doesn't have to wrap around a roller inside - so no jams. I only feed in one piece at a time.

There is a similar wireless model, but I've had trouble with wireless, so I got the model that plugs into my computer. I've been very pleased with it. It also copies and scans.

I have a HP Photosmart C4200 series printer. I print digi stamps on 110# cardstock all the time. It works great. And the ink carts are only around $15 to $20 each.

I have an older Canon Pixma, the 470 model: Canon PIXMA MP470 Color Ink-jet - Printer / copier / scanner

I love this printer. I've had no jamming issues. Ink is readily available at Office Depot, Staples and other stores. Paper goes into the back (upright) and feeds to the front (flat). I bought this one because it was cheap, had good reviews, and had a flatbed scanner.

I don't print photos on it. I just don't think the quality is as good (or as affordable) as getting them printed at Walgreens or Snapfish. If I was looking for a photo printer, I'd probably go with an Epson.

Also, if I'm printing documents, I've learned to click "Grayscale" printing so that it uses only black ink. For some weird reason, this model will pull ink from black and color cartridge to print black if I don't tell it "grayscale" (black only). On the plus side, if the color cartridge is empty, the printer will continue to print from the black cartridge. My last printer refused to print unless all the cartridges had ink.

I love my Epson WorkForce 1100....it is wide format, so it can do up to 13" wide. It's great because I can print larger boxes on 12x12 heavy cardstock, that I design on my computer, print them out and put them together. Or I can print layouts...and all kinds of things that might need to be printed. Also, it adjusts EASILY for different sizes of paper, and I can print on as small as 1.5" wide strips - and it prints STRAIGHT. Also the ink lasts a long time and is relatively affordable. I go through about a full set of ink every 8-10 weeks, and I print A TON - total TON of full color stuff.

Also it takes my 130# cardstock like a dream, without jamming, and the ink dries quick.

It's a fantastic printer but it does take up some space, so if you are cramped for space it won't be the best fit.

Thank you for this thread! I've been having a fight with my printer all night trying to get a piece of Neenah 80# paper to print a test page so I can test my ink with my Copic markers. Looks like others have had the same problem I have where the printer jams, even if I'm feeding just one sheet through. I have an Epson 7800 and 8400 and they both jam. I think I'll look into some of the printers that have been recommended on this thread.
