Best hole puncher - HELP!

Okay.....I'm working on a project that requires me to punch a hole in the middle of a coaster that is covered on both sides with paper. What would you use? Does the big bite cropadile do that? What about the Martha Stewart drill?

also looked at the Mcgill adjustable drill punch but didn't know if it could accomplish the job.

The Big Bite will do that for you, no problem. The regular Crop-o-Dile doesn't have the reach but the Big Bite can go as far as the centre of a 12x12. I have no idea on the drill punches, I'm afraid. There's a review of the Martha Stewart one on Craft Critique here that might be helpful for you.

Yes, the Big Bite will work. I don't use my Big Bite very often but I sure am glad I have it for when I do need it.

I have a Japanese screw punch that I think would work well for you. Also, I don't know if Fiskars still makes them, but they used to make a set of punches/eyelet setters that have a spring action. You pull them up and then "snap" them. I still have mine, and they work very well on thicker materials. HTH.

Drill punches work anywhere so it should work. I have a Japanese screw punch and it will eventually go though almost anything if you make sure it is empty first. And a big bite should work but keep in mind the clearance is quite small. If you have thick coasters with thick paper, it may not work. I'm always surprised at how little fits in it.

I have a Cropadile and don't have any problem fitting coasters in that punch area. Since I don't have the big Bite, is the punch located in the same area as the area that sets the rivet? I'm going to be working with medium weight coasters and one layer of paper.

Also....since you have a Japanese screw punch, how much pressure to you have to push down to get it to do it's job?

Big Bite and it does what the Crop-a-dile will do. I found mine right by the Crop-a-dile.

I use a Japanese drill punch too. The MS is a generic Japanese drill punch and it's a really good buy. I highly recommend it for those who are looking to buy a Japanese drill punch without putting down that kind of money for an authentic one.

I purchased a Japanese Drill Punch when I first started crafting cards. It's a stand alone punch that has different size bits. I believe you have to buy those seperately. I have since bought the Big Bite and love it but there are still times I have to go back to my drill punch.
