Default Bad punch??

I got my first Martha Stewart punch and it is SO HARD to punch! Did I get a bad punch, or all they all like this?
Thanks,
Brenda

Did you get the skull and crossbones one? From what I hear it's impossible to punch. Others of hers are hard to punch as well. The tip I remember is to put the punch in the freezer for a while before you want to punch it, then try it. HTH

I bought the MS cornflower punch last year and it works perfectly every time. I haven't had to punch waxed paper, put it in the freezer, or nuttin!

No, it is the branch. I have tried it on several thickness' of cardstock and it is awful. I already have carpal tunnel, and golfers elbow. MS is doing me no favors with this punch.
I will try the freezer thing. Thanks!

I have several of her punches, including the branch... I've only tried them on paper or thin cardstock and they worked great. You might try the freezing, followed by punching some aluminum foil and wax paper... you shouldn't have to go to these extremes, though. If you take yours back and decide to exchange it, see if you can try in out there.

Good luck!

OMGosh that's not good! Sounds like you either got a bum punch, or the branch punch was no good to start with. I have some punches that are a hassle to use and as a result I don't use them very much; I would find having to freeze my punch every time I used it to be a hassle. You should be able to exchange or return that difficult punch, and if you are exchanging then ask to test the punch before you leave the store (bring some paper and cardstock with you). If you are returning it, make sure to have your receipt because stores like Michaels will deduct 20% of the purchase price on returns without receipt.

Sorry to hear you are having such a tough time with this punch!

Punches that are very intricate are a royal pain in the rear -- remember the three-flower punch that coordinated with Looks Like Spring? Oy, that thing was a hassle to use! I sold it as soon as it retired, LOL! ;)

Well I just went and exchanged it. The new one is a bit better, but not a lot. I am a bit discouraged. Maybe I should have got the butterfly instead.
Most of the people at my WalMart are kind of rude, so unless a certain lady is working I have no chance of opening packages. (I don't know how people steal things, I would not make good criminal) My MIL works at WM in another state I will ask her to test some and get me one.

BTW row4d I DO remember that punch. I never bought it, I borrowed it from my friend. I punched a bunch of scrap in different colors. I was glad to give it back. But several years later I am still using up all the flowers I punched. At the time I thought maybe my friends punch was just getting old. Good to know I wasn't the only one who wasn't happy with it. All my other SU punches have been great.

Freezing make metal contract. So if you have a "sticky" part, it may help. Also harder edges (the metal is harder since it's frozen) will punch more cleanly.

But I agree. Too much work for a punch.

i just bought the MS lace border punch at micheals and i couldn't get it to work on cs, su or black market, my son finally had to do it for me on walmart gp white cs, and it was extremely tough for him, there is no way i use it on cs, but i saved it for regular paper, cuz it's so pretty.

Here is the thread discussing the whole MS skull punch in the freezer thread.

Forums at Splitcoaststampers

It might have some other insights into the sticky MS punch topic.

Oh - That darn corner rounder, I got mine from Su and it is the worst! Everytime I use it I have to trim the cut because it leaves a weird edge. I hate it.

Well I sent an email telling them just what I think of their product. I will be returning this one too. I can not afford to waste money on something that does not work!

I have a flower punch that works okay. Last week I bought the haunted fence looking one and that was a joke. I could not even punch it out and what came out looked awful. Promptly returned it to Michaels. No more.

I will wait until the Nestabilities offers something similar.....

I have 2 of her border punches that work fine and the pumpkin punch that is fine also. But, my oh my, the picket fence is a joke. I froze it, punched foil, wax paper and that punch can barely punch computer paper. I took it back to Michael's. What a waste of time... but it was so cute....

I have several ms border punches and they all work great. They punch much more smoothly than the Fiskars. I would take it back if it's giving you grief.

I thought I'd remembered the skull and crossbones one being a pain but I bought one and phewey that thing is a pain, wouldnt punch all the way through the paper and I dont like that the bones dont come out like the skull does. The eye holes never fell out I had to try to dig them out with a pen and then the darn thing jammed! Its going back for sure. My last gripe is that she designed the punches to stand when no other punches stand. Im returning it.

Same day for 75% off i bought a Marvy punch a large one with punctuation marks and could barely punch through the paper and then the pieces didnt come out!

Bad day for punches both are going back.

Why does freezing a punch help it punch I dont get it.

I have this one, fern, I think they call it, don't they? Anyway, yes, mine is hard to punch too. Just got to really want it. I've probably used it more than any other Martha punches so far.

i have several of martha stewarts punches and they all work great for me! They must not make all them consistantly good. I would suggest you go to an employee at Michaels or whatever store you get a punch at and ask them to open it and try it out with you so you can be sure it will work. I do this all the time for customers at the M's I work at.

I just bought the snowflake border punch and had to take it back.
Didnt work :(
And it was cute too.

I wrote to EK Sucess to ask about the problem everyone had been having,
and I got an e-mail back saying someone would contact me and that was 2 weeks ago

I had a problem with the first one I bought. I returned it and got a differnet one, but it still is hard to punch through SU cardstock.

Thanks for the freezer tip. I'm going to try that on a couple of testy punches I have.
