I still use them. Sometimes the project just calls for the use of an eyelet. I use a lot of them on nautical theme things, I guess it is that whole ships wheel thing, and I always put them at the top of tags (to put ribbon or something through). Stuff like that.
I have all the colors that SU ever sold and used them a lot, but that was before the brads, dew drops, stickles and all the rhinestones. Now I use them if I don't have any of the other products to use or is I want to reinforce a hole or use it to loop a ribbon through. I still like them, just most other products seem faster or more quiet to use.
Eyelets were the first embellishment I ever bought when I first started scrapbooking (before cardmaking). I had to have every color that was made, and they are all keeping each other company in their own little drawer. I can't remember the last time I used one!

yep, I do. Just used some at a stamping class as an embellishment as a closure in a really cute card. I love taking classes because they use all sorts of things I don't think of or use often and get me using them. Love my local stamp store.
I have all the colors to match SU cardstock (except the latest 'in color') and I don't hate them, but I just don't use them as often as I used to. Like Inky Paws said, with dew drops, brads, stickles etc.. laying around, it is easy to overlook the eyelets.

I still use them occasionally but not like I used to. My latest obsession is dew drops. I also find myself using a lot of brads lately and if you had asked about brads 6 months ago, I would have said that I don't use them either. I guess that's why I tend to hoard stuff, because everything old becomes new again. (oh wow, did I just come up with a plausible excuse for hoarding?? LOL)
I've always wanted to use eyelets but never have, simply because none of the three or four eyelet setting tools I've purchased did a satisfactory job of setting them. I hope this will change, though, because last night I just purchased a Big Bite with a Mike's 50% off coupon! Now I say, bring on the eyelets!!!!
I still use them - maybe not as much as they were one of my first embellishments and I have since gotten a variety of items but I still like them and agree that I like to use them for ribbon also. I just made a card and put a line of 5 or 6 of them and remembered how much I like them!
i use them. i have the old 'hammer and punch' style- tools.... so when i am having a lousy day, i take out the eyelets and -BANG BANG BANG.
LOL it's cheaper than therapy

I didn't use eyelets much either until I got a crop-a-dile over a year ago. Now I love using them. I'm sure you will too with your big bite.

I haven't done the hammer method for a LONG time. I miss that stress relief!
I like eyelets, but find I never bring them out for anything. It's good to have someone remind of the things you barely use - maybe you will make a point to take them out again!

I bought the Crop-o-dile, and for some reason the expected hype of using eyelets just didn't happen....you know what I mean?
I find the cropadile is the only reason I even consider using eyelets (or snaps, for that matter--do they still make them?!). Some of them are harder, though (the metal is stiffer) so it depends on the brand. But I like them because they are flatter than brads, but there are disadvantages too (you can see through the hole to the paper below) so it just depends on the situation, to me...

ITA. I think I've used my crop-o-dile a total of two times. It has never seemed to work quite right for me. The eyelets just don't hold the appeal they once did for me.
I like them. I still have the old fashioned pound with a hammer eyelet setter and it works fine, DH sharpens it for me ever so often so it will cut cardstock better.
I really appreciate eyelets whenever I am using vellum or acetate and don't want to use adhesive, which can show through. So far I've stuck mostly to silver and black low-key type eyelets. I got a crop-a-dile and I love it... I never learned the old school techniques!
I find that I use then alot on tags and tag embellishment type things I make. They add a nice little splash of color and keep the ribbons from tearing the cardstock.
If you want a way to use eyelets in a different way check out my blog. I posted a tutorial for using eylets as an alternative to pennies for rolling/slider cards.
Make a lot of cards for children with cancer registered at the Cole foundation. Use my cricut to cut out animals and the eyelets come in handy for the eyes, especially when filling the middle with some glitter - looks nice and the kids enjoy them. Love using them for the center of flowers, too. Using the crop-a-dile makes it easier to use the eyelets.
Does anyone know how to change the color of eyelets? I have lots of them, but not in the right colors--I really need about 20 Brilliant Blue eyelets for my next stampin club--but I've run out! I was thinking of dyeing my own using the Brilliant Blue stamp pad and some clear embossing powder, but I didn't know if there was another way! TIA!

Using embossing powder does work and that is the only way I know to change eyelets, brads, etc. but maybe someone has another idea.

I've not tried this - it is just an idea - but a friend of mine recently "painted" a headband with nail polish...maybe you could do the same with eyelets?
Oh, I love eyelets... my daughter just started stamping and she came up with some great cards using eyelets- I was amazed at her ideas... we both are trying new things with eyelets... so if you have em collecting dust and want to get rid of them... I know my cards would love em.

Ohh me too once I got the hand of the crop a dile and stopped smooshing them I used my eyelets much more
Ok, so what's the trick? I was using the crop-a-dile for a while when I started stamping last year and the smooshed look didn't bother me a lot, but now I won't use them because they end up ruining a perfectly good card by getting smooshed.

The Ranger alcohol ink Mixatives can be used to color any metal object. But as far as I know, the only colors available are gold, silver, copper, and pearl.
As for the OP: Yes, I still use eyelets. Of late I've been using the extra large eyelets more than the mini ones, but it just depends on the project and what looks best.

I just checked out your blog, and that is an awesome idea for a slider. I could NEVER get the pennies to work, and I could never figure anything else out. Thank you for your tutorial!
