I have gotten a ream of Cryogen White (100 sheets) from www.paperzone.com for $31.99 in the past, that works out to 32 cents a sheet. It is the exact same card stock as SU Shimmery White. HTH

I LOVE Paper Accents pearlized white card stock that I got from Verve Visual. Yes I design for them, but I bought this paper and can't stop using it! Here's a picture from my gallery that happened to catch the shimmer if you'd like to see it. And here's where you can buy at Verve if you'd like. At $17.00 US for 25 sheets, it's a little cheaper. They ship to Canada and I've heard that they have good shipping options.
I second this. The cryogen white is the exact same as the SU shimmer white, and 50 sheets will last you for a long time. Cutcardstock has the cheapest prices I have found and thier service is out of this world.

www.cutcardstock.com is great! I found it because of a thread that nmslmomto3 did. She did a comparison looking for cs that was like SU and I'm so glad she did. The cs is beautiful! Lots of different colors and really fast shipping.... Thanks!!!
I went in on a group share of shimmery cardstock and don't remember the brand name but everyone said it was identical to SUs. So, of course I bought a gazillion sheets in white and in vanilla. I don't think it takes watercolor or markers the same. It seems to pill more. Maybe I'm just imagining it because I no longer have the Su to compare.

I found a great pearlized paper at Office Depot by Xerox, called Pearlized Elegance, comes in Ivory or Silver, 50 sheets for under $9. It's great stuff, I've especially liked it for printing sentiments for inside your cards when a stamp just won't say what you need. I've used the Ivory a lot in cardmaking, and given samples of it to friends, who all seem to love it. And it's not expensive! I wish they'd make it in gold!
I also love the Cryogen White and have used it for many years in place of the Stampin' Up! Shimmery White. In comparing it side by side with SU's it is identical. You can use it to watercolor, in fact SU recommended it for watercoloring when they brought out their Watercolor Crayons. HTH's.
You might try Paper-papers.com. We've ordered from there and so far soo good. 50 sheets was $13.99. Make sure you get the 89 lb COVER not the text weight. The creamy one is delish too!

I love the shimmer of that paper! Awesome. Thanks for sharing!
I really trust Ellen H's judgment on this. So, I did some research.
Curious Iridiscent paper (the color is cryogen white). I checked 3 online sources, did not check shipping costs and have no experience with any of these vendors.
This is approximately .27 - .28 a sheet compared to SU's over $1 per sheet. Selling a product at 5 times the retail price makes no sense to me because inevitably we figure it out and feel cheated.
The other nice thing is that this paper comes in a variety of colors and you can get it cheaper by making a bulk buy.

I placed my order a couple days ago with www.cutcarstock.com It was $14.50 for the card stock and $7.42 for shipping, totaling $21.92. This turns out to be $0.44/sheet.
I love SU! and all they have to offer, but it seems so silly to me that they're charging that much for a sheet of paper! It is a convenience though for people that don't use it too much or shop around and are dedicated soley to SU! I guess I'm just too cheap to not look elsewhere
I guess my math was wrong -- it is 4 times the retail price. One reason to get it from SU is if you have earned hostess rewards and want to get it that way.

I had shimmery white CS on my wish list for the holidays, but I have very limited financial resources. Thanks, ladies, for all your research and info. You have just saved me a lot of money that I can channel towards other needed supplies.
I replied about getting Cryogen White from Paper Zone above. When I reread this thread something didn't seem right. The OP said that 10 sheets of Shimmery White was $10.95, that is incorrect, 10 sheets of Shimmery white is $7.95. It does seem expensive at that price too, but not as bad as over a $1.00 a sheet. I do buy mine in a 100 sheet ream at Paper Zone because it is my paper of choice for watercoloring, and gamsol and prisma's, and just plain ol' stamping in general.

Actually, it is 10 sheets for $10.95; I'm in Canada.

The cream color is called Poison Ivy and I don't know why -- it just looks so formal to me (like for a wedding) that I don't use it that much. There is something about that cream/vanilla color that enhances the sparkliness and I don't care for it. The cryogen white is not a bright white, sort of an off white and I use it for most white cards that I make.
Be careful about the shipping with Paperzone. They may state a certain shipping amount at checkout and you may find it quite a bit more on your credit card bill. They were only using FedEx when I was ordering from them several yrs ago. I use cutcardstock.com now because they mail via USPS and use the flat rate boxes so the shipping is reasonable.
I just need to verify - is the stuff from cutcardstock.com the EXACT same as SUs, or does it differ a bit?
TIA!
I was wondering the same thing. Also the cryogen referred to from one source is 92# and from the other 89#. I only have used SU paper so don't know the difference in the weight of the paper. I do know I'd be very unhappy if I ended up with 50 or 100 sheets of paper that was lighter weight than SU. I love the SU shimmer white, but don't use it much b/c of the cost, so if one or both of these is the exact same I'd love to order.
I'm hoarding mine right now it's in a package brand new never opened. I think I have had it now for 1 year or longer. Just waiting for the right time to make something with it.

I do not know. I do think there are differences in shimmery white paper for sure. As I posted earlier, I went in on a bulk buy that someone somewhere was offering and got a boatload of white and off white shimmery paper -- enough to last me a very very long time. It is fabulous for most uses but isn't as nice as the SU stuff is for coloring -- it doesn't handle water the same.
The stuff I bought was advertised here by someone as "exactly like SU's." Well, it was much cheaper but not exactly the same. I think Ellen H posted that the cryogen white is exactly like SU's. Before I buy anymore shimmery white, I'm waiting to be able to see it!
