Question Adding glitter to invitation

I am looking for a simple and cost effective way to add glitter to a wedding invitation. The bride would like the whole front of the invitation to sparkle (i.e. to have glitter all over the front of the invite. Obviously sporadic and sprinkled - not clumped)

She doesn't want shapes outlined in glitter, or random dots of glitter, so a glue pen and glitter is out, as is Stickles. She doesn't want to add color, so Glimmer mist is out. She doesn't want the surface to be tacky, so spray glue and glitter is out. It is being printed on plain white cardstock, so an expensive, irredescent paper is out.

Help! How do I make this happen? There are 500 b/w invites that need glitter. Anyone have any ideas?

Ah ha. I just made my dd a bd card where I wanted one of the background papers to have a sparkle like you are talking about. I used a very light colored Glimmer mist and it turned the paper an ugly color. I went to my LSS yesterday and asked about it. I bought a bottle of glimmer mist called Pearl. Came home and sprayed it lightly on white cs and it looks awesome! Left the paper perfectly white with just a hint of sparkle. After misting it lightly I also lightly rubbed it with a paper towel. Good luck. Lets here how it goes.

www.cutcardstock.com has the Curious Cryogen white shimmer cardstock. It's the same as SU but way more economically priced.

Ok, I forgot to mention the invites are being printed commercially....so a specific cardstock won't work, since it's printers paper. And the sparkles have to be added after the invites are printed...

Could you add white PearlEx to a pump hairspray bottle to make your own colorless shimmer spray?

I just glimmer misted some stamped images colored with copics on white cardstock. It was irridescent gold I believe. It didn't change the color of the cardstock at all - just made a light shimmery gold sheen on it.

This isn't exactly what you had in mind, but how about the Heart Card N Glitter 101 from Carol Duvall http://www.hgtv.com/HGTV/project/0,1..._10356,00.html

Instead of doing the heart, just use the lace. And if you could get a card (front size) sample of the bride's wedding gown lace, you could make it more personal. It is a cool effect and would make a classy card front.

Yeah, the girl at the LSS told me she used the gold also, but after looking over my two options, the Gold or the Pearl, I decided on the Pearl and I did use it all over the paper and then stamped on top of that and it worked great. I would be glad to send you a piece that I will spray with the pearl and you can play with it. Just PM me if you want me to. I could have it in tomorrow's mail. Jill
