Default AccuQuilt ?

I am not a quilter, but my SIL is. We will see her for Christmas this year and I'm wondering if this would be a good machine for her. Are the dies compatible with a Big Shot or Cuttlebug? Just looking for different options and feedback please. TIA

If she is an experienced quilter who uses rotary cutting, I don't think that the new system would be very helpful. IMO, there is a ton of waste when using dies vs rotary cutting. The only exception I can think of would be hexagons, circles, or appliqu shapes.

I agree with Jen. But for the big machine, it die-cuts those beautiful dresden plate style borders too...

If I quilted a lot, and I mean a lot, and making lots of quilts for sale, then maybe the time saving (versus the fabric waste) would be a benefit. But otherwise...I'm not sure. I looked at both machines. If I was interested in die-cutting fabric, then I would not waste my money on the GO! I would invest in the Studio AccuQuilt. There are many more choices and uses for that machine compared to the GO! But the $1000 price tag would mean I would really have to use it a lot. And you still have to spend $20-40 on each die.

As for dies...I would doubt any compatability. It looks like the dies aren't even compatible between the two machines.

Now me, if someone were to get me a gift card to my favorite quilt store...

Thanks for your feedback. It sounds like you have saved me some $$. She lives overseas and quilts for herself, not for sale. I'd hate to spend the money and have it be of little use. I am a tool person and was drawn to this for her.....thank you for steering me away from it!
