I'm trying to gather up some papers for a mini using 50's style paper. I can't seem to find a complete collection line. Any suggestions? If I have to I will piece it from many brands. If you know of a line or even a sheet can you send me your suggestions. It can be anything in context to that era. TIA!
Brights...Bolds....Sock hop and a poodle skirt. I can use cuts from Sil and Cri for embellishments but it's the papers that are giving me a hard time. I hope someone from OA is reading this! LOL!
Oh wow, I've looked and looked and I've racked my mind and can't think of a bright bold sock hop type of paper. I checked out DCWV and I thought that they might have something. nope. If you have a hobby lobby your could check them. I know that they always get stuff that I can't find at Joanns or Michaels.
Let me know what you find. I know sizzix right now has come out with a whole slew of new 50's sock hop stuff, but obviously they don't have the paper. hmmm. I'll keep my eyes peeled and let you know if I run across something. Good luck.
Thanks Ladies for spending your time trying to help me. I really appreciate it! This has now become my quest! I have found papers but they are digital 12x12. I don't have a printer that will print that size. Grrrr! My mission has begun and I am determined to find what I need!
Thanks Stacy. I have that OA line. I love it but it's not the look that is "stuck" in my mind. I'm thinking "Elvis", "Grease" saddle shoes, jukeboxes, Pink poodle skirts, records {45"s), cool Chevy's (the kind you can fit 10 girls into to cruise in), beehive hair-doos and slick doos for the guys and last but not least...Sock Hops! Whew! I know it's a lot to find but it's gonna be a ton of fun looking. What started this was my MIL was looking through old scrap paper I had and she came across a few pieces of Elvis paper with hard plastic record embellishments that I was going to donate. These couple things took her back to a time she loved. After listening to her stories for awhile I couldn't "not" make her a mini to write her memories down to keep for the grand kids.
Thanks for the help and if you do come across something you think I can use just drop me a PM.
Thanks everyone!
(Geeeez...now the soundtrack of Grease is stuck in my head!)
The October Afternoon set you linked reminds me of the 30's fabrics I have for a quilt. Some of those are almost carbon copies!
I was fortunate to have someone pass down this collection of over 300 different patterns of fabric...and they're the real thing, not reproductions. I was giddy with excitement!
There's more...I just googled "scrapbook papers 50's".
As for 12 x 12 patterns, there's no reason why you can't use them. I would just put the image on a word document and size it to fit your 8.5 x 11 or I would crop the image in your photo program to fit 8.5 x 11 paper. Both ways would work. Your printer won't print edge to edge and top to bottom anyway.
I wonder if you were to drop an email to someone like Marco's papers if they would know what company has what you are looking for. Since they are in the paper biz I'd think they would have a working knowledge of what is out there.
