1-2-3 Envelope punch board craziness
One of the reasons I bought this device was to make fat envelopes (really, just really flat boxes) for mailing cards that have embellishments, lots of popped-up layers, interior pop-ups, etc. The booklet shows how to use the device for such a box, but it implies you just use the same size paper as for a flat envelope. However, if you do that, when you fold up the edges, they butt up against each other - there's no overlap for gluing or securing the envelope shut. I've been fiddling with my first sample for a while, and not feeling the love. I should mention I'm using chipboard (like cereal or cracker box material).
I'm hoping one of you out there has made these dimensional envelopes and can give me a clue before I start pulling my hair out. Do I need to increase the paper size by the amount of the gap between the A and B scoring lines? And do I double that, because it represents the thickness of the finished envelope box on all sides? The punch guide can't be the same, either - do I add the amount of the gap between the A & B scoring lines to that, too?
Thanks for any help any of you can give me!
