Default Wood mounted stamps- storage?

Happy Holidays stampers!
I am a faithful SU fan, and as you all know, all the SU stamps are still wood mounted. When storing them, how many sets can you stack on top of each other? 4 max? I assume you cannot store them sideways, or you risk the wood warping and the rubber stamp would not work properly. Please let me know your thoughts.
thank you so much!
Lisa

Default wood stamp storage

I have had mine stored sideways for 2 years..the wood is so thick it will not warp. I have pics in my gallery. I need to add 2 more shelves as I am running out of space. Before I had this set up, I was in my basement, so I screwed roof flashing to all of the studs in my craft room, added magnets to the back of all the cases and stuck them all over the room..that worked great for awhile. Now I make a copy of the sticker sheet before I mount them, add it to a piece of paper with a number and put that number on the case, so friends can look through the book to see what I have then can help themselves.

I've had my SU stamps stored sideways for six and 1/2 years. The wood doesn't warp. My up-upline had hers stored that way and I never knew any better. When some of my customers wanted to try other ways, I've tried putting them in boxes A-L, M-Z, Christmas; tried stacking them - that certainly didn't work for me - you're always looking for the one on the bottom.
So back to storing them alphabetically on their sides. I have tried putting the alphabet stamps together out of sequence under A for ease of finding them. I'm also thinking of putting all the strictly phrase stamps together for ease of finding.
Some of my customers have taken their stamp sets off the wood; I've not seen this so I'm not sure what to do next, but they say it saves space. Since I'm a SU demonstrator, I don't want to do anything to my stamps, so I can use them for demonstration purposes and for resale.
Good luck organizing.

I store my side ways because I can't even imagine the inconvenience of having them stacked on top of each other. Now that I think of it, my upline stores hers flat and she struggles when she's looking for a certain set.

The wood shouldn't warp. If your in a climate controlled area, the rubber shouldn't be affected. If the rubber and adhesive were in a warm environment, I could see the rubber sliding off, but mine stay in my house, so it doesn't get that warm.

My husband build me a shelf that fits each SU container perfectly--and there's no waisted space. There's a pic here!! HTH!!

I used to stack them on a bookshelf. Then we moved and the four drawer lateral we were using to store towels and blankets became available so now I store them with the name label facing up. It helped with my storage issues for awhile but now I'm finding that I may need to find another one. I'm a SU! demo but I don't get rid of my retired sets.

My loose/individual wood stamps are stored in the cabinet my DH made me for Christmas. Like my SU! sets, I need another cabinet because I still have some stamps stored in layers of two in 12X12 plastic scrapbook storage containers.

I have a girlfriend who stores here loose/individual stamps on one-inch shelves that go from floor to ceiling in her craft room. She has two small walls of stamps. Her sets are are stacked on wire shelves in her closet.
