Can someone here explain what the Croc-o-dile does? I have never seen one and am curious after listening to you girls talk about it. I want to go to Michaels soon to use my 50% off coupon and am wondering if this is what I should buy. And also, what department will it be in? Thanks much for your info, Mariah
a Crop-O-Dile is a punch that is like a hand punch...can do eyelets and holes for small and regular sized eyelets...can set snaps....punches through thick items such as tin, chipboard, rubber, fabric....and is a great tool to have on hand....it allows for a measured depth so if you are doing several punches at a time (say for tags or such) they will all be exactly the same depth...I love mine and encourage everyone to get one!!
I saw one of these at Michael's the other day.... to me it looks like some kind of medival torture device! It looks cool, I just don't think I would ever learn to use it, or actually want to get it out very often. I tend to have that problem...
Thanks for that link Andrea! I had seen it before but now that I have my Crop-a-dile, I really needed it! I was a little unhappy with the brief instructions on the back of the package but love the tool!

Help! All day long I've been trying to think of the name of that eyelet setter that I've seen on the threads. Apparently you can do it with one hand and I think you get it at Joann's or Michaels. It's driving me crazy today trying to figure it out. And I'm already crazy enough! LOL! Can you help me out?
I have Making Memories instant setter. Some people use Provo Craft Silent Setter. I don't like Prove Silent Setter because it require lots of muscles to do it and it kills my wrist. Making Memories instant setter is the best for me.
Then there is also Croc-a-dile, big pink tool. I have it and like it because I could punch holes in thick materials such as chipboard, so on.
Here's a link to their instructions, which you may find handy if you toss the packaging without reading the miniscule instructions printed on the back. Apparently it is easy for you to apply too much pressure the first few times you use it and can distort/flatten your eyelets and snaps that way, but you just have to play around with it and try using less pressure.
I used the crop-a-dile today at the SWISS event... for me, the technology challenged stamper, it was actually very easy to use. the owner showed me once and I actually got it! I was surprised how easy it was to make the eyelet set!
I was not a fan of the silent setter... JMHO.

You will absolutely love the Cropadile - I got mine with a 50% to somewhere (Michaels, Joann's, or Hobby Lobby - I have all three). If you can wait until Thanksgiving, you can probably get it with a 50% coupon. Enjoy!
Hi,
What is a crop-a-dile? I'm into getting everything! Do I need this toy? What can it do? I saw one at a craft store, but didn't have time to get a demo. Looked EXPENSIVE.
I believe there is already a thread about the Cropadile. Do a search and see.
I thought i didn't need one, but then i took a class and we used one to punch holes thru a tin pail and then embellish with ribbons, etc, and so i did need one after all!!! i got mine at Michaels with the half price coupon so I paid about $14 for mine.
I got mine for 40% off and really like it for punching holes and setting snaps and eyelets! It is SO easy to punch through matte board, chipboard, tin, or whatever!

I'm finally making a dent in some of my eyelets now that I have this handy tool....I got tired of hammering and stopped using eyelet. Brads were easier. Now both are easy!
I love mine. Got mine at Michaels with a 1/2 off coupon. I think it punches nicer holes then a regular hole punch. Then use the same tool to set the eyelet, it is sooo easy.
I love m crop-a-dile! got it w/ a 40% off coupon at Mich*els but i had tried it at our LSS and love the strenght ~~~ it cleanly punched tru a plastic CD with very little effort. i say get!
I just got mine today with a 50% off coupon at Michael's and I love it already! I am also fairly new to stamping, but I scrapbook and never wanted to use eyelets cause I was horrible at setting them. WIth the cropadile it is so easy!!!! I LOVE IT already and I just got it! haha
Well, I hate to put a gray cloud over this party but I got mine and I don't like it at all. Maybe I'm doing something wrong??? You folks that use it regularly might be able to help me out. I don't have trouble punching the holes but when I go to set my eyelet it smashes it in such a way that the hole is no longer round...it's kind of pinched in the center. Am I doing something that I shouldn't or forgetting to do something? It's not the most complex tool in my arsenal so I feel really silly for not getting it to work.
There could be a couple of reasons that you are having problems. One, you may be doing it upside down. Make sure you look at the symbol on the setter to see which way the eyelet needs to go. Second, there are different sides that you can adjust, depending on your eyelet size. It may be that you just need to adjust the settings. Hope that works for you.
Don't squeeze too hard! That was my #1 problem when I first started using it. You only need to squeeze until you fell the eyelet "give". It will be set without too much "warping" BUT the packaging says to expect some deformity in the backing, it just depends on the material your eyelet is made from.
I just used mine to punch holes in a "birthday book"... the front and back covers are chip board and then 12 pages inside for the months. It punched through it all with NO problem (and barely any effort).

Last week sometime (I think) - there was a thread about a setter/punch thingy that everyone was just raving over. Said it was easier on your hands and your furniture than the hammer set.
But I'm not finding the thread. Can anyone please enlighten me?
I think its the Crop-a-dile that you are talking about? I Love it! I punched through chipboard coasters with it and it went through them like butter! Works wonderfully!! Its a A++++ in my book!!
I love my Cropadile. Wait until you have a 40% or 50% coupon, and then enjoy! It's a bit tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, it is absolutely fantastic!
