I watched a tutorial yesterday about flattening the SU Soda Pop Tops in the Big Shot to create a neat layered embellishment. I asked my demo if she has done it yet and she hasn't. I am afraid to try it for fear of damaging my BS. Has anyone out there tried this technique yet??
These will flatten nicely in your Big Shot. No worries. I did use a lightweight piece of cardboard between the "teeth" of the soda pop top and my BS plate, though, to save some wear and tear.
For the cuttlebug, the sandwich is the A plate, bottlecaps with the flat side down, a cuttlebug die with the metal side down, then the B plate. Google it to see it in action. Have fun!!

What do you mean by cuttlebug die with metal side down? What is the purpose of the die?

The die is essentially a shim - it doesn't harm the die, and is probably better than going directly onto other shimming materials or a B plate. Sara Sandberg's YouTube video is the one I've seen, but other people might use different sandwiches. (I googled flatten bottle caps cuttlebug). I've only used this technique; it always works and is EASY! I buy bottlecaps sold in stores for home-brewing; I don't think used ones work for this technique. Mine come with a rubbery liner inside the cap. To remove it, I put a few bottlecaps at a time in a saucepan with a little boiling water. I then use a paper piercer or tweezerbees to 'stab' the liner and pull it out.
