Default So Confused SVG files

I see these popping up online and they look so fun but what kind of machine can you use with them and do you have to use special software?

You don't really need a machine for SVG files. You can cut them out by hand. If you enjoy hand cutting. I know some just read that and said "NO WAY!"

If you enjoy hand cutting you can download Inkscape for free: Inkscape. Draw Freely.. Open the SVG file in Inkscape, print out the SVG and now you have a cutting file. You can follow the SVG tutorials for how to make and cut cutting files. There are a lot out there.

If you prefer a machine there are a lot of good choices on the market. PaperThreads has a comprehensive list of machines that cut SVG's: http://www.paperthreads.com/bonus/pa...re_112008.html

I have a Silhouette SD. I use Inkscape and Silhouette Studio for my SVG's with the Silhouette. I own a BossKut Gazelle that I use MTC with.

My best advice for buying a die cutter is buy one where the software already has SVG import function. For example Gazelle- Funtime, KNK Zing- MTC. A lot of times to get SVG import you have to buy a separate software package. That can be intimidating for a new die cutter user.

Don't be pressured into buying a machine because there is a huge fan following for it. Buy a machine that fits your needs. Buying a die cutter is like buying a car or sewing machine. You need one that fits your personality.

Hope that helps.
