Default Silhouette Questions

Does anyone have a Silhouette that they have had and used for some time that could help me out and answer some basic questions?

Here they are:

1.) My Silhouette Cameo is sometimes not cutting all the way through-even after adjusting the blade and the settings are correct for the type of paper? Is there a solution? Should I double cut?

2.) When should I double cut?

3.) Often the paper sticks to my mat, to the point that it rips part of the design or I just can't get it off. I don't have the spatula and the hook-yet. Will this help.

4.) I've heard from a friend that the Cricut Matts will actually work in my Cameo since they are both 12 x 12 and she uses these-she says they last longer and the paper is easier to lift? Is this true?

5.) Can I cut Felt on my Silhouette?

That about covers it! Appreciate the help! Thanks much.
Jill

Hi Jill ,
I can only answer some of your questions because I just have the original Silhouette.
The Silhouette mats are very sticky when you first get them. A spatula and hook will help. Another thing that you can do is to stick down a whole sheet of cardstock and lift it up and down several times to remove some of the tackiness.
The Cricut mats will work.
You can cut fabric if it has been adhered to a stabilizer (cardstock or some sort of fusible webbing) but as far as I know, you cannot cut felt.
Good luck with your Cameo! I love my original Silhouette and can't wait to get the Cameo!

I think Barbara got most of your questions but I wanted to jump in and say I always double cut with my Silhouette, I just leave that setting on. Sometimes it's not needed but you don't know that until your done and if it doesn't cut all the way you've ruined your paper so just as a safety measure I always do, it saves a lot of frustration

I just got my Cameo and the recommended Silhouette settings worked fine for my SU smooth cardstock, but I increased the blade to setting one notch higher than recommended for my SU textured cs (I think it was 4 or 5 setting). It wasn't cutting through the textured, even though it is also 80 lb.
