If you are going to use them for watercoloring with gamsol, you need to buy the non-watercolor pencils. If you are going to use your blender pen or aqua painter, then you can get the water colored pencils. I like to use gamsol so I have the non-watercolor pencils and love them!

You can go on Ebay and get different sized sets a lot cheaper than buying them outright at a store, even with a coupon. I got a set for 120 for about 63 bucks. I love them and use gamesol also.

If you are going to go with the regular Prismacolor pencils to use with the odorless mineral spirits (Gamsol is a brand name) then I would suggest buying them individually. I have about 30 different colors and those are all the colors I will ever need. I think if you are trying to save money I wouldn't go with a huge pack of Prismacolors. The chance of you using all of them is slim to none. Hobby Lobby also has a percetage off of them every so often. Around 25%. They go for $1 each before any discount.

Don't forget to use your 50% off coupons at Michaels. I agree about buying individually OR buying the smaller tin. The smaller one has the primary colors that you will probably need anyway. I bought the tin with 72 on Ebay and that is the best way to go if you are buying a huge lot. It's cheaper than buying it at Michael's (even with the coupon!). Best of luck and don't forget to look for the threads with how to use your pencils.

If you google Prismacolor, there is a video on the website that shows you what the different pencils are about....it's really neat to see the artwork that man creates!

While shopping at Wal-Mart today I found a 6 pack of Prismacolor pencils for $6.97 so I bought them (no Hobby Lobby, Michaels or Jo's where I was). The pack had Black, Copenhagen Blue, Sunburst Yellow, Carmine Red, Grass Green and Dark Umber.

The next time I go to the big city I will pick up a few individual colors (softer pastel colors) at HL but these will get me started playing for now!
