Default Need advice on choosing between 2 cricut cartridges

I can't afford both and need to choose only one of the two cricut cartridges I like for now. I really like the Doodlecharms and Paper doll dress up. I could see myself using both but can only get one now. I am torn between the two. What would you get and why? TIA

I have both, but actually use DC more. Although PD has alot of extras also, I just forget to look there. Sorry I'm really no help.

I just got my Expression a little over a week ago and the DC was my first purchase. I was able to get it at JoAnns for only 33.99 on sale.

PDDU does have a lot of extras, but if I had to choose, I'd choose DC. No good reason; I just would. LOL

I want both, as well but I'd go for Doodlecharms first. For me, it seems like it would be more versatile in my card making and scrapbooking. I guess it depends on what you make the most often.

I believe everyone should have Paperdolls and Doodlecharms in their collection at some point in life. I think you need to look at the handbook of paper dolls and see if the accessories and the ability to make paper dolls is more important than the images on DC. I love love love them both! So I think it's a personal choice on what you want first. out of the two I bought PPDU first, and i have little boys!

I have found that Doodlecharms is a well loved cartridge in my collection. I just used it last night to create a cupcake card. Its also really versitile when you want an embellie for spring or thanksgiving etc for your scrapbook page.

Theresa~

I have trying to decide between the two myself. Take a look at all the extra using the feature buttons with Paper Doll Dress Up. Plus I found it on Oh My Crafts for $29 plus shipping. Plus here is a coupon code that is good all month long for 10% off your entire order: JAN09. I will be ordering one today from them. If you are still undecided, OMC has Doodlecharms for $33 as seen here.

Have fun shopping!

You guys are soooo not making my decision easy ;) I really want them both now !! I just saw a close up of paper dolls and could really see myself using all the extra's quite a bit. On the otherhand Doodlecharms has so much versatility that it can be used all year around. Oh decisions decisions. Keep the opinions coming. Thanks!

PDDU all the way! It has SOOOOO many options on the accessories. Frankly, I am not a "doll" person and don't use it to cut those, but it will do everything inbetween! I use it tons more than my Doodlecharms. JMHO! Happy Shopping!

I have 4 boys and thought PPDU was one cart I wouldn't need. I ended up buying it because the extras are so fun to have (and I've cut large doll blanks for the classrooms for the kids to decorate, so it ended up be a good purchase all around).

Still, if I really, really, really had to choose just one it would be DC.

Good luck with your dilemma!

PDDU is SUPER cute, but I find I actually don't use it all that much, as it takes so much time to get the doll "dressed" if you want to say it that way?

Doodlecharms is very versatile and I'm sure since they are both older carts, you can get them on sale somewhere. Good luck on your decision!!

I had both and ever used either one.

I use Plantin Schoolbook most! If I had to pick a 2nd...it would be Storybook...you get a font as well as tons of fun images and shapes!

I have both and find there are many similar images on PDDU- and they are cuter on that cartridge. I get more use out of PDDU than Doodlecharms. If PDDU was available when I got Doodlecharms I probably would not have bothered to get it.

I've had my Cricut for 2 years, and Doodlecharms was one of my first cartridges and I do love it! Its perfect for all holidays and seasons. However, after holding out for a long time, I just got PDDU (black friday sale) and haven't had time to play yet. But after looking at the book, i don't know why i waited so long to get it, b/c there are so many images on it. And there's a lot of seasonal extra images, like you would find on Doodlecharms. I held out on PDDU for so long, b/c i don't have kids, and didn't think i would use it for anything. But now I'm very glad I have it, and i know when i do have kids it will def come in handy.

If you can find them on sale or cheap somewhere, get both! Otherwise, maybe get DC first, then save for PDDU later.

You guys have given me so much to think about. I'm still so torn. I love at how the images on the doodlecharms range from holiday to everyday images. Plus it also has so many other feature buttons on the keypad to choose from. But I am drawn to paper dolls because not only are the dolls cute but there is so much more you can do with it. I can see myself using the accessories quite often. Thanks and keep the advice coming

I just ordered both from Oh My Crafts, links are in post #10 above. I used the 10% coupon code and the shipping was only $5.28 for a total of $61.08 for both cartridges. That is not bad at all, I think! Good luck deciding Theresa!

what other carts do you have? I have both and use paper dolls more. It depends on your style and what you will be using it for. Cardmaking? scrapbooking? or both?

Maybe you should ditch them both and get story book! its my favorite. lol

I would probably buy Doodlecharms first because it covers a wide range of subjects/holidays, and the paper piecing is nice -- the designs are pieced, but the pieces are not too awfully tedius. Check around online -- several sites are having sales on carts for around $29.

since you have walk in my garden, accent and plantin, I would go with doodlecharms if those are your current two favorites. Reason why: walk in my garden has a lot of florals as well as some cute animals. The thing I like most about PDDU is the cute animals on it. So, since you have a few animals on the other cart I would get a general holiday one. Another one you might want to look at is stretch your imagination. I dont personally have that one but i remember thinking i didnt get it cause i had doodlecharms...Off hand i cant remember whats on that cartridge but i think it was a mix.

Don't forget to check ebay too when you start your collection. If you are a ebay shopper lots of carts go for $20.00 or less if you are a winner and that includes shipping. My girlfriend won me Plantin Schoolbook for $18.50. Some of the older carts go for less than $10.00. Worth a look. Have fun...you will be hooked.
