Has anyone used one of these? I saw them at AC Moore and they are alot like the Around the Block Tagger but they attach gems instead. I was wondering if you have to use eyelets like you do with the tagger - if so, that's way too much trouble for me and I don't need another tool I won't use! I tried using the tagger without eyelets and it rips the paper.
Here's the link I found for the KaJinker but it doesn't offer much info, neither does the packaging:
The two are basically the same. The KaJinker has shorter "stem" than the tagger. You could probably use the gems with either tool. Also, you don't HAVE to use the eyelt with the tagger, just makes the hole less apt to tear
I couldn't wait for them to come on the market after seeing the full page ad in Adornments magazine. Once I got one at JoAnns last summer, I was so disappointed. It is almost impossible to use. Maybe I am doing something wrong but I feel like I wasted money on the gems and attachment links when I can't use it..
I like the round ball much better than the straight tab too
I agree and that is why I was so happy when JoAnns finally got the Kajinker. I spent about $60.00 on the tool and lots of links and gems but find it so hard to make them connect. They always break before they make the passage through the paper or fabric. I do lots of purses and felt that the Kajinker would make applying layers so much quicker, sturdier and more attractive that sewing loops on by hand. What is the trick to making it go through? Any tips would be greatly appreciated as the tool and accessories are just sitting unused in my drawer right now.
I have the Around the Block tagger but use the Kajinker attachments in it -- I think the Kajinker tabs are cuter. I haven't had any problems using it. It seems to punch through everything just fine and I haven't seen any reason to use eyelets -- so far, so good.
Be Warned...Kajinker Looks Just Like a Child's Toy
I was really surprised when JoAnn's finally got the Kajinker in stock. In it's bright turquoise and lime green colors, it looks exactly like a lot of the toddler toys my grandkids love. I cannot understand why a responsible company would make a "very dangerous to children" product look just like something kids play with! Why didn't they make it in more adult looking colors...white, grey, black?
I also wish the tool actually worked. I spent a lot of money on the supplies and have only gotten one out of about fifty I tried to actually fasten without breaking off first.
I have a Kajinker and absolutely HATE it!!!! DON'T waste your money on one. I bought tons of buttons, etc with it and it does NOT work. The little plastic things break 9.9 out of 10 times. It is very frustrating! I use the Around the Block with no problems and also have one that is for quilting that I got at WalMart that works fine. The Kajinker---KaJUNKER!
I have the Around the Block tagger and I hate it, can't stand the bar... can I really just buy the Kajinker parts for it? Any specific one, or special tips I need to know?
Thanks!
