Question I broke my cuttlebug and my heart!

HELP! I broke my CB. I was trying to emboss with a new thin die. I mistakenly put a c plate instead of a b plate on top. I don't know what the heck overcame me....the stupids I think. Since I never had a problem with embossing with 2 b plates on top, I gave that crank some extra mojo. I heard this deafening pop. I even thought I heard my cb cry...yes...cry. The left side popped out. The plates did not break. When examining them, I discovered that I had actually used a c plate with a b. I put the left side back on and consoled my cb. I fixed up a correct sandwich but it was obvious that either the top or bottom rollers does not descend in order to create any pressure. The left top where the side poped out expands when I try to put in a built on sandwich, but no luck.
Is my CB destined for CB cemetery?? :( Can it be saved? She has been in my family for almost 5 years, the first machine I bought when I got infected with SU and the card making bug. If anyone can help me I will appreciate it!

I did a similar boo boo a few years back. I contacted Provocraft and they had me ship my bug to them and they replaced it. I admit to you that I did not admit to them that it was a non CB item that made my CB explode out one side.

Mine did this too, a few years ago. I wish I would have contacted ProvoCraft because I have heard that they will replace it... Instead I bought a Big Shot (love it!). I would suggest contacting ProvoCraft before you try to fix it yourself or replace it because they will probably help.

Wo' is me! I just got off the phone with provocraft. They said that because my bug is over two years old, they will not replace it and it cannot be fixed. I googled my problem and someone said that provocraft replaced their over 2 yo bug. How now brown cow???
I tried all suggestions. Nothing works. Thank all of u for your help and suggestions.

I have always been afraid that something like this would happen to me. What would I do without my CB. About two years ago Custom Crops had a sale and I bought an extra one. It is still sitting unopened in my closet as a back-up. It is a good feeling knowing that I have a back-up waiting for me. So sorry that this has happened to you.

Use a coupon and pick one up from HL or Michaels. I think Joanns.com had them on sale but the weight/shipping might be prohibitive. :( So sorry for your loss.

Joann Fabric has the Big Shot for 69.99; the Cuttlebug for 53.99; and the Grand Calibur for 77.99. There is a 2.95 coupon code for shipping for today only or 5.00 shipping for the week.

Oh I love my CB. I have a big shot and the only time I use it is when I use Sizzix dies that don't fit the bug. I hope you can get a new one soon!

Go to the announcements forum and see if anyone has a coupon or a code to get your new bug cheaper if you don't have a coupon.

Default I feeling the bug luv!

Thank you guys for your replies and moreover your understanding of my love for the bug. I am going to try one more time to contact provocraft. The more I thought of it, the more concerned I got. I have a cricut and several cartridges (got SCALS, too ;)) I also understand that this pop off business is common. So, because I have "health proxy" for my bug and refuse to go gently into that good night.....I will give it one more try!

We are a crazy group, aren't we? Loving our cuttlebugs so much!! I don't use mine all the time, but whenever I do, I just smile and comment on how much I love it. Good luck!

Oh my goodness, this post got me thinking. I always have spares of all the plates, but I've never considered the actual CB breaking. That would be awful, I don't think I could be without one for a day. I may have to consider this, though DH will think I've finally fallen off the deep end if I do this.

My CB is the first 'big' tool I bought after starting this hobby. It is my old friend. The sandwiches are second nature so I can use any of the different company accessories I have. I did accidentally pop a side off and if anyone could have snapped a picture I would have huge eyes and a hand over my mouth! If I couldn't get it back together and working, I would be in tears. My CB is my little green buddy.

Well, I would love to help you out...I have a cuttlebug that I would send you. I have dies...and embossing plates. I would just ask shipping? Let me know if you'd like this okay? I bought myself (my Christmas/New Year's gift), a Silhouette Cameo and I really don't think I'll use my cuttlebug. I used it infrequently as it was. So! Please let me know if you'd like it. If not I will list it for sale at a good price, but since you're in distress I'd like to offer it up for next to free.
