Lightbulb How do I make these cute circles with scallops?

I am very new to SU and stamping though I've been a scrapbooker for 5 years. In looking at the gallery I see these cute circles with scallops on many cards. Is this a circle punch and a scallop punch? Please help find out how to make this cute accent.....

Traditionally these scallops would have been made by punches. If you have a die cutting machine there are now dies available. If you go to Ellen Hutson's blog at ellenhutson.typepad.com she talks about brand new scallops being introduced by Spellbinders.

Hope this helps!

check out using the word windo punch to 'faux' it!

I did a card with that technique, and it wasn't as putzy as I thought it would be! When I have a working camera again I will post it to this thread.

HTH!

Here are a couple of other ways to do a "faux scallop":

Hey, Stampin' Andrea, I love thse 2 blogs you linked to! That's another great way to do it! TFS!

And I love Created by Courtney's background music. I thought I had turned on itunes by mistake. Closed the window and the music went away... so I went back ans snooped around more so I could listen to the end!

I am too cheap to buy the scallop punches so I use the Coluzzle to cut out the circle (or oval), then trim the edges with scallop/wavy scissors. It's not absolutely perfect, but close enough.

I agree. I now have the Giga Circle and the Giga Oval, but before that I traced and cut the shapes using plastic templates, then went around with the scallop scissors. You can get a nice effect that way if you are patient and take your time.

Even though I have the giant punches, I still trace the smaller sizes to put in the middle rather than get the other size punches.
