I just purchased SU's new Cutter Kit. The main reason was for the 7 sided distressing tool (which is TOTALLY worth every penny spent btw!!). I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for using the other tools that are a part of it on the go? It seems to me that you almost need to have your paper cutter with you anyway for measuring and using a straight edge? Yet, it's advertised as a kit to use for "all your projects on the go". I'm not sure how you'd do that. Help! Also....what would you use the "perforating tool" for? any suggestions?
I have found the perforating tool to be useful for making ticket/coupon books (kids love to do them!) or for making a card with a bookmark attached. (You know, the ones that you open up and attached to the right of the inside, folded in, is a bookmark matching the card design that you can tear off and use.) I hope those ideas help!
I actually don't have one right now (mine is coming in the mail...I've been using a friend's), but I know the cutting blade is good with the perfect layers tool (as well as trimming on the go). The scoring blade is probably also helpful for similar situations (when you are on the go or just don't want to take out all of your supplies), but I usually just use mine on my paper cutter. Feel free to ask any other questions!
thanks..that was actually really helpful..at least i know you do need a straight edge to get a good cut with it. How do you measure and account for the fact that the blade is not flush with an edge? any tips? also...is the perfect layers tool worth it? *allison
We used the perforater tool with a metal ruler at the Stamp a Stack I went to. I guess that is why it's easier to take with you... just grab a ruler with a metal edge and the cutter kit.

I have used my paper blade to make nice SWOOPY swirl cuts... and the Perferating blade fits right in the track of my fiskars personal paper trimmer... makes it so easy to cut a strait line!
