Default Help me find...

something to store and TRAVEL with my SU ink pads!!! I would like something that has a handle or a strap and be able to be used as a temporary home while we are in the process of moving from CT to WA with possibly a one or two month stay at my parents in FL! Wow! That sounds so complicated, doesn't it?? I am taking my stamping stuff with me as we travel and would like to have something that would be somewhat easy to get around. My sis-in-law carried hers in an old cassette case which I cannot seem to find anywhere now that I need one.

Somebody give me some ideas please!!!

Thanks! :-D

I usually travel with my stamping spots. I put two color families in one of the jumbo empty boxes. That way I can bring all 48 colors and it doesn't take up as much room. Not sure this helps you, but I don't usually bring my large ink pads.

FYI: If interested they sell cassette tape holders on the bay for pretty cheap. I just bought a Nappa Valley Wooden Cassette Rack to hold my ribbon.

Bumping for more portable ideas.....I also have a lot of non-SU inkpads and whenever I go to a crop, there I sit, rubber-banding my inkpads so the lids won't fall off! LOL!

I would like something with a handle or a strap too!

I use my MIMI stamp tote -- it's great for carrying stamp pads and basic essentials. I looked for months for something and one day I saw this in a magazine and I bought it the first time I had a 40% coupon from Joann's. For Memorial Day they have a 50% coupon, so if you think you might like this, I'd jump on it!

Here's the link to see what the tote looks like:

I found a Case Logic CD holder (I think it's supposed to hold 50 CDs) at a yard sale for $1! I put the handle at the top and placed an empty CD case in the middle of each of the 4 compartments. Then I stacked my ink pads in color groups - top left is Bold Brights, bottom left is EE, top right is RR, and bottom right is SS. It's great and it's a soft case with a zipper close, so it's VERY easy to take them with me! Let me see if I can find something similar on the bay and I'll be back.

OK the "box" one in this auction is pretty similar - off to check some more!

Couldn't find one, but this shows the inside of a smaller one. I have 4 compartments like these in mine - CD in the middle (these are on their side in mine, not stacked) of each compartment and inkpads on either side. If I get a chance tonight, I'll take a pic and post it here

Aren't you sweet???

That's exactly what I was looking for but it's so hard to see and some don't even show what the inside looks like, ya' know?
Thank you for looking!

OK, here's the pic of mine in action As you can see I have it sitting on a shelf with the lid folded underneath it. At some point, I'm going to stamp inserts for the CD cases that have the color family's name on it, so everyone will know where the BB's, for instance, go.

I've had my eye on the cases at www.craftlocker.com for a while. I just haven't gotten around to buying them yet. Maybe something like their ink & maker storage unit would work?

I have been thinking about ink pad storage also.

Here are gallery pics of the same system that canben is using:

The last pictures has a link to a site where you can buy the case. Maybe I'll finally go ahead and order one.....

Love those CD holders. I have the Craft Locker that Anemone is looking at, and I do love this one also! (It comes half ink pad storage and half drawers, so don't forget to buy extra 'ink pad' drawers to replace the ones that come with it; I have 2 lockers to fit all 48 pads, with the black, brown, gray & white in the little drawers on top.) But I may just have to get a CD holder for the 'In Colors' and extra Craft ink pads that I have. Thanks for the idea.

jenrn, are your non_SU pads the size of the old SU pads, with the flip top lid? If so, this storage container may be what you need.

http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...cStoreNum=8125

I have this for my older style inks, even the Kaleidacolors (sp) will fit in the top spaces. Mine is older and gray with yellow dividers but this one should also work. It's at any hardware store. HTH

Thanks so much for all of the ideas ladies.

I decided to go with the case logic cd case as it was more in my budget, YKWIM? That craft locker is the cutest most ideal unit to have but too much $ for me. With a new catty coming out soon, I have to be very careful what I buy right now! ;)

Thanks again for all your help!

I use a large Snaptop storage case made by Iris that has a handle built in. It is 17" x 13" x 6" (just deep enough for ink pads!) for $8.99. When you close it and put it on it's side to carry or store, it keeps the ink pads in the correct storage position! I have 51 pads in there now and there is still room for more! I love it -- it's easy to store and take along. I got mine on-line at Hobby Lobby but I don't know if they still carry them. HTH!
