I need help. I am not loving this thing yet. Am I just blind? The card I make most is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4, but if that measurement is on there I don't see it. I assume the column that says Card size is the finished size of the front. Also, what do you do when your paper is way longer than the score line on the board? Thanks for any help.
You are correct - the measurement for your size card isn't on the board (I think it might be printed on the SU version, though).
The measurements you want are: start with an 8" square and make the first score at 3 1/2".
When my paper goes beyond the board, I just score it as far as I can and then fold on the score. The part that's not scored usually just follows the score line pretty easily.
Then the advertisement for this product is a little misleading, don't you think? It says over 60 envelopes to fit virtually any size card you want to make, and the most popular size to make isn't on it! Thank you for the instructions. Tried it, works perfectly. Hope you have a terrific day.
It's on my SU board - I believe it may be listed as 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, so see if you can find it in that order. The other info that Cheryl gave is correct. Good luck!
I stuck a small label over the incorrect section on my non SU board. Amazing they blew that measurement! I'm waiting for someone to give us more sizes and measurements-for a quarter size card for example- I'm too lazy to figure any others out for myself!
I can't afford to buy another one. The reason I bought this one was because of the advertising...everything is right there for you...you don't have to figure a thing...measure once... I'm a little disappointed, but it isn't a life changing thing so I will just live with it. I also can't imagine why they didn't make it big enough to accomodate bigger paper so when you score you could do so all the way down. Again, not a life changing problem, but still.
I love mine and use it all the time. I just know about the goof for an A2 card and since that's the one I do the most, I've got it memorized. I mentioned in another thread that I think they should have added a swing arm at the bottom that you could swing out to score the larger pieces. I just score as far as I can. I can usually eye it up to make the next score.
I just put the info on a label and stuck it on the board (in a blank area). Even with this oversight I love this punch. I almost never make bigger envelopes so that wasn't an issue for me.
Look up pootles papercrafts on youtube. She has a few videos using the envelope punch to make non envelope things.
Thanks. I'm going to look that up cause I love making stuff!
I received the SU punch board for Christmas and I love it. I just watched some of the videos that Gale recommended and they were really good. I especially liked the one on envelope liners by pootles papercraft and frenchiestamps. It showed 2 different ways to make a liner. I actually like frenchiestamps one better because there is no paper waste.

Boy do I feel stupid...no wonder I am having so much trouble with my cards not fitting into the envelopes. Never noticed this. Guess I'll watch the videos...am rather annoyed right at the moment as well as embarrassed. Now what - help someone, please - what exactly do I put on a sticker as the right paper size and score line numbers? Am mathematically challenged!

This is the measurement for the A2

Starting a pinterest board with envelope punch board ideas. Thanks for sharing videos you've found! I've made card boxes using this one Any Size Box with Envelope Punch Board by Frenchiestamps
I, too, have the envelope punch board that is not from SU, and I wasted my good paper the first time I made an A2 card. I called the company, thinking I had the first version of this board that had errors on it. It turns out I have the newer board, but the A2 measurement is still wrong, and for the life of me I couldn't understand her answer when I told her that. Thank you for the comments in this forum where I found the correct measurements!
Here's a great thread with info on how to make any size punchboard box. And I posted a picture an directions for the ruler extender I made for mine in post #12.
I checked out both sites mentioned as calculators and they both seem to work well.
I love my eny punch board!! I have the SU one and use it for envelopes and boxes. I made Christmas crackers and even an Easter basket with it. I'm in the process of developing a chart for various box sizes. There are a couple of online box calculators but they are in metric.
I have a Pinterst board for the punch board too if you'd like to see it: Carole Parsons on Pinterest
Then scroll down the SU boards are in alphabetical order. I'm on my tablet and can't post a direct link.
Nice Pinterest boards! I love my SU envelope punch and I'm thankful I decided to go with it than the other options considering the misprinting. Came I handy when I sent out 40 valentines cards last month.

I just watched a Youtube video with a great trick for getting accurate envelopes with the punch board (after wasting several sheets of lovely paper). You measure the first side as usual, and then, instead of turning the paper 90 degrees, you turn 180 degrees and measure again! Then go back and do the other sides using the score line as a guide.
If the envelope is large and the score line goes past the board base, manually fold on the partial score line so you can see it better all the way to the end.
Hope this makes sense. It restored my sanity!

Could never figure out why this size envelope did not work. Glad I found this thread!
Thanks for the info

OK, this is what throws me: do you measure from the printed numbers or the grooved ones? There is a difference.
If you use american-inches measurements, use the printed numbers. I am pretty sure the grooved numbers are Metric.

You know, on second thought it still doesn't make sense: the grooves are for scoring, so they are what we should be following...so why doesn't the numbers on top mesh with the indentations? Hmmmm....

Those grooves aren't for scoring - the only scoring is done in the deep diagonal channel to the right of the punch.
You use the measurements to the left of the punch to line up your paper. If you are using Imperial measures (inches), you go by the printed ruler. If you prefer metrick, you go by the indented ruler.

Indented numbers are to line up your paper for metric measurements.
I stated this info in post #28
If you use inches, use the white printed numbers for measuring, just don't pay attention to the indented numbers.

Glad I found this thread because with Frenchies tutorial, I can make any envelope into a box envelope!!! Awesome. Thanks Gail for posting that link back in February!

Jeez, what an incredibly foolish post on my part! I know that we can't score on those lil' bitty short grooves... duh! Wow, I was definitely out to lunch on that! I was seeing the grooves but thinking "scoreboard". Your patience and polite answer is most appreciated. I'm dealing with a Father whose in rehab after suddenly becoming very weak (he really thought he had Mad Cow due to feeling like those Downer cows trying to get up; his brain just couldn't make the connection with his legs when he kept trying to get up each time after collapsing five times in three days).
Thanks again for your response.
