Default Envelope Icing?

Am in the middle of assembling 150 layered envelopment invitations for my son's wedding. (My gift to bride.)

We saw the post on envelope icing on the envelopme site http://www.envelopme.com/wordpress/?p=227
and were curious to see if anyone had done this and if there were any problems in mailing or handling. It's the perfect answer to addressing and using dark purple envelopes, but I wonder if the post office has any problems with it.

I don't see why the post office would have any issues with it since they lie flat. And, I'm sure it will save you lots of time!

If you're gonna do 150 of these, I'd modify the process a bit to make it run smoother. After printing, I would score the entire page at the spot where it's going to wrap around the envelope. And instead of adding glue to each strip, I would run the page through a Xyron and then cut them down to size.

I hope it works out to do it -- I took a look at the link, and the samples are beautiful! Do you think it might be worthwhile to print out an example of one of the envelopes and take it into your post office to show them?

Default envelope icing

Brilliant idea - so clever! The hard part for me would be the mail merging and all that computer stuff! Wouldn't that be so elegant for Christmas cards?

I would first check with the Post Office as mentioned in post #3. There could be an issue with the position of the address. It may not meet with mail machines.

I'm not sure I care for the look of it though. I'd prefer making it two different labels so it would look more traditional with the return address on the front top left.

Well, I imagine that the invites are going to be hand cancelled anyway (with the typical bulk of a wedding invite, that is almost always inevitable). So, given that, I really don't think that there would be an issue. I would also recommend using Xyron so that the "icing" is completely adhered and doesn't somehow fall off during shipping.
