I am thinking of getting an electronic cutter but am so confused on which one to get. Having to buy cartridges all the time would get very expensive and am confused about cut files. (kind of a technological dinosaur)
So which cutter do you all like. Which one is the most versatile and economical and not too difficult to run--he he;).
I also have the silhouette portrait and love it too. Soo cheap to just buy files to use or find free ones on line. Can even have a go at making your own. If you are into scrapbooking you may want to go with the larger silouette Cameo as it does 12 x 12 papers where the portrait does 12 x 8. Which is enough for me cause I only do cards. I did pay for the upgrade to design studio which was an extra $35 I think. This then allows you to use svg files people make and give away.
Also bought the latest mat that allows you to take a photo of a stamped image and will make a die cut of it for you. Still to work that one out with having to format camera setting but really brilliant. Brilliant if you are like me have have digital images your colour in and would like to cut out.
Well that should give you something to think about.
I would recommend the Silhouette. I have no experience with the explore, but with all the problems people are having using linked carts it turned me off.
I love the silhouette and I love using their design studio. I love being able to create my own cut files. I think that is the funniest part of it. There are millions of freebies out there to be had and it's not hard at all to learn how to make them yourself. Super easy.
I chose the Sizzix eclips and I'm very happy with it. I can use cartridges if I choose, I can purchase ready made SVG's, and I can design my own cut files. Replacing mats and blades is not expensive. It is very easy to use and I've never had a problem with cutting heavier card stock.
I love my Silhouette Cameo, the same machine as the Portrait just larger. I do use standard letter size cardstock the majority of the time. I Agree with everyone here, the Portrait is an excellent value.
I had a Silhouette and I sold it. I bought the Bosskut Gazelle and I love it. I do a lot of cutting a sandwich of double-sided tape/cardstock/double-sided tape and it cuts like butter.
