Question Cutter advice

I am in need of a new paper cutter and wondering what are the favorites? Fiskars just doesn't cut it. I checked out genesis, carl and like the idea of self sharpening blade on the carl but need to find out what stamper/scrappers are using:???: Preferably one that cuts multiples too.;) Thanks. Haven't had any luck with info. on a scoreboard, would like that too if there is any info out there.

I just bought a Creative Memories cutter about a week ago and so far I like it. I bought a Carl and am sending it back to the company because it cuts crooked.

HTH,

I just bought a carl cutter and it cuts way crooked. I couldn't believe it! After all the great things I read about carl, what a bummer. I know the creative memory one has little "gripper" things that keep the paper from slipping. I have had really good luck with my fiskars although alot of people havn't liked them.

I LOVE my Carl Cutter!! I have the 12" one...didn't think I'd ever cut paper larger than 12".

I don't use that magnetic thingy to line the paper up. I just line the cs up with the line that goes from top to bottom. My friend uses a triangle square thingy to "square" off the magnetic arm and lines her paper up against it, so she knows it's square.

We also can cut up to 15 sheets of cs at one time, so it cuts down A LOT of prep work when planning for classes.

OH!!!! I don't know what the model # is! ;-)

DC-200 series. 12". The company gives demonstrators a 50% discount when you call them. www.everafterarts.com. I also ordered an extra cutting blade which I haven't changed yet, and it's been over a year and I use it a lot. I have had to change the mats. It's a 12" strip, 1/2" wide. I cut from the top (line cs at top of cutter), then at the bottom, then flip the mat around, then flip it over and do it all over again. You'll see a "wide" groove in the mat, and you'll know when to change it. I've only replaced the mat once (using both sides, top and bottom and flipping it around).

I switched from fiskars to Carl and I am very happy. I can cut two peices of cardstock at a time and still have it cut smooth.

So how big is the Carl cutter? Is it something I could use on my stamping desk or does it take up a lot of space. I'm looking for a 12" portable cutter that I could take with me easily.

It's a true story! I just emailed Everafter Arts, and they emailed back within an hour with the wholesale pricelist. :-)

Here's a review on the cutter I just ordered.

http://www.scrapfriends.us/tonic_studios_trimmer.html

Joanns has it for $36.74 and there was another post here for a code for $10 off on orders of $25 or more. Unfortunately I didn't have that code when I ordered mine, but I did get free shipping. So you could get a good price. It was under guillotine cutters at Joanns website.
