Ok - so I didn't think I needed this tool until I saw it demonstrated on HSN yesterday - now I think it is a MUST have...
So, Ladies - Who's got it? How do you like it?
Didn't think I needed "another gadget"....but.....I love it! I actually dug out all my eyelets and find many places on the many cards I make to use it. My husband needed another hole in is belt loop...crop-a-dile to the rescue...it works like butter on thick plastic, metal to list just a few.
I ordered this great tool on my first new catalog order back in July. I use it all the time and LOVE it! I have not sold any however because everyone knows you can go to Michael's or Joann and get it cheaper.

I've had this tool for a couple of years and used it in my personal stamping. So when SU! came out with it, I used it on all my projects at my last club meeting. I sold 5 that night. So it's definitely a must-have. Most of my customers had stopped using eyelets because they hated to set them with a hammer, so I stopped demonstrating them for that reason - until now of course!! Here's a picture of a little mini tin pail using the COD - the eyelets are not SU! (sorry!), but this was not one of the club projects - just a personal gift for someone. Hope this helps with your decision!!
Thanks, Ladies. My customers love when they can use their tools for other projects as well - I think we could write a book on 101 Ways to use your Heat Gun. On HSN they showed putting eyelets on blue jeans - WAY COOL! I just knew there was a reason to keep that stack of old jeans - I can see adding borders to a card or especially a scrapbook page with eyelet studded jean material :-)
I love it! After I figured out that you use the things on the side to punch the holes, that is! I am such a dork. I was trying to punch the holes with the part that you use to set the eyelet. I kept thinking how in the world are you supposed to punch metal with this when I can't even punch through cardstock??? What a nerd! Thanks to SCS, I finally discovered how to use it!
I absolutely love it. I've had mine for over a year now, and I use eyelets a lot because of it. It's easy to use, and quiet and wonderful. The only down side is that you can't use eyelets in the middle of your projects.
Oh, it cost me a fortune!!! I bought it because I read how great it did on the Jumbo eyelets (which I had to have) Once I used it and found out how great it really was I had to have more eyelets (which I hardly ever used do to the noisey setting process) Well, since I needed more eyelets I had to buy the new Stack and Store...so watch out they can get more expensive than the original price (but well worth it!) ;)

The SU! eyelets are very 'soft' thus even with a hammer or regular punch can be set quite easily but I hate using non SU! ones because some are so hard that when you hammer them the front flattens a bit or you loose some of the painted on color! Is it as easy to set hard eyelets with the crop-a-dile as it is to set the SU! ones? or do you really have to push hard on it? I have small hands and don't have a lot of strength in my wrists - I have no problem setting the SU! ones with a regular punch.
I use mostly non SU eyelets and have had no problems....Debbie in WI you are a hoot. I love the stack n store. I am ordering as second one as well for some eyelets and brads. The first one filled up way too fast.
Betty, I just love that adorable little bucket that you prettied up with eyelets! What version of Dollar Store is near you? I want to check out the ones in my area...those are definitely in the "stinkin' cute!" category! Jan
I bought the green Crop-A-Dile set at Archivers with a coupon and absolutely love it! I punched a new hole in DH's belt and have decorated tins, cards, etc., etc. with it. It is a wonderful tool!

Even my 8 year old son can punch through metal quite easily with the CAD. I tested it out on a mini CD today thinking it would make a cute Christmas ornament and it punched through quite easily. Get it, you won't regret it.
I hate to profess my ignorance, but can someone explain how to use the "depth setter" thing on the sides? I'm using it at my workshop tomorrow to set the Jumbo eyelets, but I just don't get the screws and sliding that deal up and down....gosh, I hate to be stupid.

I also figured I didn't need another tool (especially since I have tools that do the same thing) but I just used it today in Philly and I'm in LOVE! I am ordering one tonight! I really think that's why they hold regionals, so you come home and buy more stuff! It was soooo smooth and easy - it's way too cool. Can't wait to get my own!

Does anyone have a list of all the things to do with this? I had a customer order it because she has arthritis and needed to set eyelets. Anything else she should know about?

I know you can dry emboss small circles with it.

I love, love, love it. Sad thing is all my customers are buying them with their 40% coupon at local craft store. I've demo'd it about 5 times and not sold any but boy were they impressed! One lady said that would give her more money for stamps.
I love my CAD....have been using it mostly to punch holes in coasters for little coaster scrapbooks. This afternoon my sister called me and needed 160 coasters for some gift presentation projects she is doing for work....becaue I knew that she doesn't have a CAD nor is there any point in her, the noncrafter, in buying it, I punched 2 holes in each of the 160 coasters this afternoon. Yes, it got old...but it never hurt me! And toward the end I even got wise and figured out that I could punch two coasters at a time! Wish I'd realized that at the beginning!
Other than coasters, I think it's great fun punching holes in metal for some reason. Have seen some darling SU chipboard clipboards with jumbo eyelets set in them, too....the CAD was used for that as well. Jan
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE my crop-a-dile!! (did I mention that I love it?) I use eyelets/brads/snaps all the time now, rather than just letting them languish in a drawer. It is COMPLETELY silent, so I don't have to worry about setting eyelets while my babies are sleeping, and can be used for so many things! I even recently discovered (thanks to beate!) that you can emboss with it by setting it to A-1 or C-3 to make cute little embossed dots on your CS. You can also put a row of holes and put another piece of CS behind (same or different color) to add some texture. I never put mine away ;)
oh yes, forgot to mention that you can punch through just about ANYTHING...bottlecaps, tins, laqcuered coasters my husband got on a flight to Korea, if it fits in the hole punching area and stands still long enough, I've tried it and been (so far) completely successful
Just wanted to add that the Crop-A-Dile can be purchased at Hobby Lobby, who has a 40% coupon every other week.
