OK, OK.. I give up!!! I bought the silly thing! One thing I need to know before I open it, though-- how far from the edge can it reach? It looks like it ratchets out, if you know what I mean, but I'm not sure. I'll probably keep it no matter what, though-- then I won't have to face any more bleary eyed children mumbling, "Momma, could you please stop hammering?" since most of my stamping time happens after they're in bed! Hey, it's actually a money saver because I'll finally use all those eyelets I've accumulated!
I got one tonight and it is jammed! The regular eyelet setting, is now stuck down in there as part of my MM eyelet has jammed it! Grr... Guess I'll be exchanging in the A.M.
Unless I can jimmy it loose tonight with the paper piercer!
I started to HATE eyelets until I got the Crop-A-Dile... SO worth the money, and I use MM eyelets, and they work like a dream. I can probably do it with one finger, it's that easy with the C-A-D!!
I haven't had a problem with any company's eyelets so far. My cropadile is the only thing that saved my eyelet collection from getting dumped at the next yard sale. I love it!
Mine broke the first day and it smashes snaps, most likely faulty. I may get another one eventually. I bought it on ebay so no sending it back, but it does punch holes so nicely that I keep it around just for that. I prefer my KF Clikit for setting eyelets and snaps.

It only reaches in about 1 inch, maybe 1 and 1/8. When I got mine the adjustable ratchets were set at the deepest they could go. Really, that it the only drawback to it.
I like mine. But it isn't a long reach tool. Farthest in is about 1". I have used it to set 3 sizes of eyelets so far and even eyelets in matboard and it worked fine. I give it a "thumbs up"
I LOVE IT and I was very hesitant at first, then I gave in. I was using it wrong at first, too, but once I found out the right way, I NEVER had any problems at all, but I had plenty when I was using it wrong. Great tool!!! One thing that is awesome is that you can punch a hole through a THICK stack of paper. That's awesome for making a little tag book or something! I'd say for sure get one, and use a coupon then get it for about $15!
I adore my cropodile! My eyelets had been lanquishing for months...maybe years!!! in a drawer because I hated hammering them in. I've put in more eyelets in the past two weeks than I have in the past two years. I LOVE how you can adjust the guage so that you can get an even row.

I {love} mine! But my question is - what is the right way and wrong way? I read earlier in the thread about upside down, but how do you know?
I love mine! I've puched through tin, chipboard, 12 layers of card stock, plastic and looking for more items to try lol. As for the eyelets I've used Making Memories, Close To My Heart, Stampin Up, The Paper Studio, Cheep ones from Wal-Mart and some unidentified brand my sister gave me that someone gave her and they all work beautifuly! I haven't bought eyelets in a long time but now I'm going to need to go get more I use them so much.
I just bought one today too...and I am going to demo it at Michael's next week at the class demo day....so that should be fun. I love it so far!!! I just set a whole bunch of different eyelets so that I could practice! Sets like a dream.
I've used eyelets from Paper Wishes and haven't had a problem. I love my Crocadile.
Bwahaha! Thanks for sharing ;) I've had to backspace everytime I've typed Crop-a-dile for that reason!
Scrappygolden - there is a thingie (yes, that's the technical term) on one side of the eyelet setter. Your natural inclination will be to put the back side of the eyelet on it. But you need to put the eyelet front-side-down onto that thing. Does that make sense? I'm very visual - took me a few tries to figure that one out.
I got mine yesterday. Heard about it - of course - here on SCS. OH MY GOODNESS!!! It sets even MM eyelets like buttah! Where has this thing been all my life? It does require a bit of a light touch, esp. with SU eyelets. Works like a charm. I'm gonna love it - hope y'all do too!

I keep having trouble with mine breaking the mm eyelets (so it ends up looking like a c instead of an o), but I will keep it for chipboard and things like that. I still love my mm instant setter.

I am the biggest fan of there is. You can punch through galvanized buckets! It is so handy and quiet! I think the people with problems on the mm eyletes are squeezing to hard. I love, love mine. I'll say it again....It's the best money I have spent in a long time!

I've only used mine for punching holes in chipboard (works GREAT!), but I haven't quite figured out how the settings work. Were there directions with yours, or just the '2 line directions' on the back?
I just bought one the other day. I'm still getting used to the eyelets. I think I need to buy a different kind because I'm damaging the one's I have. But other than that, I love how easily it punches holes.
I tried one at the Hero Arts booth at Scrapfest in Mpls...it punched holes in chipboard like nothing. It does all kinds of eyelets and snaps. Lots of us ran to Archivers to get one after that! It is a great multipurpose tool. ;)
