I was wondering what you do when you put brads/eyelets on a card through the base and they show on the inside? Do you cover them up, or just leave it as is? thanks
I have never put brads or eyelets on the base of my card. But if I did I would than cover the inside up with a piece of card-stock. I do not like seeing brads showing through on the inside of a card. But that is my opinion.
I always forget to be organised and put the brads through a top layer, so I nearly always put it through the base card, but I don't hide it, I think I should be proud to call it a handmade card and I don't mind people who receive my cards knowing how I made things! ;)
I've done it both ways. If I think about it, I will generally only put the brads through one layer so they're covered up. When I'm not thinking, which happens often it seems, then they just go all the way through and show on the other side. Like someone else said, I'm proud that it's handmade!
When I am using brads, I usually do it on a card front, then attach the front to the folded card.
When I first started to make cards, I didn't know to do this. In fact, when I first started to make cards, I didn't know how to do much of anything, except fold the cardstock and try to decorate it.
As I made more cards, I decided that I like the finished look with no brad prongs showing inside, so I use card fronts, too. I like to use a lot of pattern paper, so it works well to use it for the card front, and then the inside is ivory or white for writing.

I don't like the "backs" of brads, eyelets or even ribbon to show. The inside of the card is important, too. I hope the recipient enjoys the total package, not just the front.

I agree completely!! I wouldn't dare "bare all" my "under (hard)ware" LOL!!!
I don't like my brads to show through on the inside and I generally don't like to add an extra piece on the inside to cover them up, SO, if I decide at the last minute that the cardfront needs brads I simply cut the prongs off w/ my Fiskars kitchen scissors (they have a half-circle notch in the blade for cutting small bones, which works great for cutting the brads) and use a glue dot to place them on the front.
I never put brads or eyelets on the base of my card, I have found that 9 times out of 10 this can be avoided. I am a stickler about the inside of my card being clean.......wish I felt the same about my house
I have an alternative to brads. Use glue dots sprinkled with EP and heated. Looks just like brads with no issues of anything poking through anything.
But doesn't it come out looking 2 dimensional? Brads are distinctly raised, whereas the dots are flat aren't they? It would seem that applying EP to a flat dot would be equivalent to an embossed image with very little dimension.
I'm one of those who likes a "clean" inside too. The first card I ever made with eyelets showed the holes on the inside and I decided I didn't like it too much. So, now I make the whole front and just glue or tape it onto the card.
Sometimes mine show, and I don't worry about it. :-) Of course, I'm comfortable breastfeeding in public, so maybe I just have a thing for letting stuff show???
Ok, so I just got my brads and was like "now what" Thank you all SO VERY much! This thread has given me more useful info than I thought I was looking for... I didn't even think (yikes) to hide eyelets (or brads) from the inside of the card... Doh! I LOVE the ideas you posted... I agree that attaching everything to the base card will solve all problems... Thanks again! ;)
