My husband is thinking about getting me a few single copic markers for valentine's days. Probably about 5 markers so I can start a collect. Do you know the best place to buy the copic markers?
Hobby Lobby sells them for $6.40...way too high IMHO.......... I buy mine on icopic.com, and after my first order, they made me a "gold" member, and now I pay $2.85 for the ciao marker. I've also bought them from diecutsrus, she runs specials now and then, but in between, not much for selection. I started out with blue, green, red , skin tone and the one that clears up mistakes...oh...that's the colorless blender ! Now I buy about 6 markers a month and with shipping, it's just under $25

I agree about iCopic. I ordered several copics a few weeks ago. Customer service is great and the shipping in incredibly fast. I placed my order on a Thursday morning and it was in my mailbox on Saturday - from California to Georgia - can't get much better than that!
I like Carpe Diem. Good prices and I get them in about a week.
Since you're only getting a few markers, get some that are very close in color so you can play with shading. Also, visit Marianne's blog to learn more about how to use the markers - http://ilikemarkers.blogspot.com/
Also, I suggest you try out the barrels to see what you like. Ciaos are actually children's markers. That's why the barrels are smaller and shaped the way they are. Sketch are designed for teenagers and are what I use as I have bigger hands. To me, the originals have too big of a barrel, so I'm happy with the Sketch. Also, the barrel is not round, so it doesn't roll on the desk.

I have to say, starting out with skin colors was the easiest for me. I still dont have the hang of copics yet. Getting there, but they do take practice. Coloring skin, I think I got that! LOL I seem to color in my faces, body etc. then I use my prismas and gamsol. LOL Im such a chicken!! Anyway thats off the subject, sorta.
Carpe Diem's shipping is almost $12.00!!! So if you only need a few, check places and their shipping to see where you will get the best price in the end
oozak.com has a gret price if you sign up as a registered member...costs nothing. Shippign si free over 50.00 but below 50.00 you get the choice of how they ship it so the shipping would be cheap for only 5 markers.
I buy mine @ ScrapbookingAlley. Shipping is $4.95, and no sales tax. (a plus for me, TN is 9%!)They are $3.22, and they come within four business days-
I agree...Carpe Diem is great for LOTS at once when you factor in the high shipping...but I love oozak because they are $4.15 each and free shipping on $50...or FC shipping on less than that is available.
