I do work for a small chocolatier. We wrap her chocolate lollipops in plastic bags (not cello) and after closing with a twist tie, we like to attach a small stamped and punched shape to the area that is closed with the tie. We've been using glue dots for this since they are quick and convenient. The problem we're having is that the glue dots don't stay attached well enough when we're storing them. I'm looking for suggestions of something that will be easy to use and hold well. I tried Tombow's Multipurpost Liquid glue but that doesn't work at all. I suspect any kind of liquid medium is just not going to be easy enough to use for mass production. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am sure it is the plastic. I like Zots much better than glue dots. Can you wait to attach the thing until the last minute? Can you tie them on? Can you use a wider ribbon and attach it to the woven part? Humidity is another disaster for glue on plastic. I only know that because I ran a restaurant and any 'attaching' had to be done the next day after the convection ovens and rooms were cool.
Would the punched shape lend itself to having a hole punched in it and the twist tie threaded through before you use it to close off the plastic cover? I'm with Linda on thinking that it's essentially the plastic that's your problem in getting something to stick well and given that you're in a food environment you presumably need to be careful about what you're using as an adhesive.

Sounds as though the plastic is the culprit...in addition to the oil from your fingers on the bags. Adhesives like glue dots (Pressure Sensitive Adhesives...PSA) need a clean, non-oily and dry surface in order to adhere well. Do some testing...wear gloves when handling the bags and burnish the punched shape after it has been applied to the bag with the glue dot. If those two suggestions don't work, either consider attaching the shape with a twist tie as suggested in another post, or contacting Glue Dots for a solution. Glue Dots started out as a supplier of adhesives to commercial accounts...the craft line was added later...so they may have exactly what you need.

Does anyone have a recommended place to purchase Tombow Adhesive or a dependable glue runner in bulk at a good price??

Hey have you gone to Office Depot? they sometimes have a sale on these.... tombows and they are cheaper than at the craft store unless you have a coupon. but you might have to compare prices to make sure which is the best deal
tape runner..... gal get what the big gals use..... ATG TAPE GUN...... once you know how to use it you'll NEVER go back! and you'll save a whack of $$$ too!

Would you be handy with the ATG gun..... ? the smaller roll and the all purpose adhesive would work. YOu might have to practice the thumb action for just the right amount.
I know some serious gunner runners who could out tape me in a quick draw or scrap page in a flash! :rolleyes:

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. We do use rubber gloves already when working with the bags because we're handling food. I will have Diane contact the manufacturor and see what they suggest. I would not have thought of that. Diane recently purchased an ATG and we can give that a try. I had considered the punch a hole idea already, but it it more labor intensive and I'm afraid that the tag wouldn't lay flat with a wired twist tie. Ribbon is out of the question - really labor intensive!! Time is money when you're doing this for a retail establishment and this has to be fast or it becomes cost prohibitive. We're already hand stamping tags which makes it more costly than a computer printed tag, but we're going for the personal touch! But I do appreciate all the input!

Do you have a Crop-a-Dile, Kathy? That would minimise the extra effort as you could punch a whole stack of tags at once rather than doing each and every one individually.
I suspect the ATG adhesive is also pressure sensitive so it may still not give you a strong enough bond but it's certianly worth a go if you have one there you can try out!

I used my ATG on some cellophane bags for Christmas and it was not easy to work with, Had to be Pressed on hard on a flat surface, and didn't stick too well! Good luck :(
Are you refrigerating your products? The cold will cause adhesives to lose their sticking ability. I worked for a cheese company and we had to get stickers with a special adhesive for cold products. You may want to check into that if you're contacting the manufacturer.
