Arrow Qbee's 5-in-1 card cover envelope template purse card

Since this purse card is now being posted in the regular gallery, I thought I would share how to make it with everyone. It is really quite simple as it uses a portion of the new 5-in-1 card cover envelope template found in the Spring Mini. See the image posted below for a diagram on where to trace, cut and score. Please note: you must have the 5-in-1 card cover envelope template to make this small purse card. It's the perfect size for a gift card.

I was so inspired by your idea!! I began making these right away and will teach at my camp tomorrow. I canned another project just to make room for it! Thanks for the inspiration and the directions! Mine has been posted to my gallery.. but I'm new at this so haven't figured out how to add a picture here yet!

Let's see if I can do this! Instead of using velcro to hold the card closed, I added an additional flap to overlap the front of the card, ribbon, punches and a brad. Now the card closes easily by slipping the flap under the ribbon! Again, thanks for your wonderful inspiration!

Default my purse card

Here is my attempt! I hope my Mom will love it! My 4 year old DD sure does.
I cut some slits in the top fold to insert the "handle" and attached it with scotch tape. It is concealed by the greeting block on the inside.

Smile Question about gift card purses?

These are cute as can be. You all did a fabulous job. How are you holding the gift card in? I am assuming these are for store cards (money). Thanks a bunch. I started to order that template, but didn't, but will now!

I just used a glue dot to hold the gift card. It's easily removed by the recipient and doesn't really tear the cardstick much.

Default Help!

I love the purses everyone! I am a little slow today, how do you get the different colored flaps for the front of the purse? Do you have 2 the same size and tape them together, or do you cut the flap plus a little extra and tape to the inside or the outside back? I am confused!! Help!!

For mine, I cut and traced the full purse and then cut and traced a separate flap piece and adhered it overtop of the existing flap. Please let me know if I'm not being clear. I'm glad you like the idea.

Sharon, did you attach the ribbon/flower to the "body" of the purse? On the close-up, it looks like the ribbon is attached to the bottom (solid yellow) flap, but I can't envision that it could stay closed that way. I'm not sure if I'm making my question clear. I love this idea, and the LLS papers are so pretty.

sorry for the delay.. I had double flaps.. one on the front, the smaller size on the inside/back, covering the ribbon handle.. flower also on the front so that when back flap folded over front flap and tucked under flower, purse 'closes'.

Thanks sharon. These are so cute and I made several to insert gift cards as graduation gifts. I'm going to make a bunch and leave the inside blank so I can start to use them as greeting cards.

Which link did you click on?

BTW, The 5 and 1 template, that everyone in this thread is using, is available for sale through SU.

Qbee came up with the original card idea and instructions.. her post (instructions on how to use this template) is the first one in this thread. Consuelo, you are correct, the 5 in one template is the one in the new SU! catalog, and it is too cool. You can search the gallery and find other cards/designs made with the same template too. All the samples are absolutely stunning.. good luck!

Hi Brenda,

How are you cutting the purse out after you use the template? The curved edge is so straight? Are you a master sissor user or are you utilizing a different mechanism?

Thanks for the help,

Karena

Actually I have made great strides with my cutting since Kindergarten. I did use scissors to cut out the purse. I use a pair of very short bladed scissors by fiskars and I find them very easy to work with. Some people have great success with the paper snips that Stampin' Up sells, but when no one is looking I really prefer my short-bladed fiskars.
