I made mine so that it overlaps in front and is held closed by the slit punches in the right front piece. It is rather tricky to open and close, but I found it wouldn't stay closed by itself with the skeleton inside. If you want a gate-fold coffin lid with no overlap, trim 1/4" from each front piece and omit the extra (punched) right front.
Finished size is 2 1/2" at the widest point and 3 1/2" tall.
I love this. I can't wait to try to do it too. There is so much talent and creativity on this site. I get great ideas everytime I visit. This one is one I will definitely be doing for some event around here, even if I have to make up something like, October 13, National Coffin Day.
