Default What besides modge podge?

I have seen cute wooden picture frames matted with designer paper or stamped background paper and thought they must be made using modge podge. However, when I tried it, it is too bubbly and I lost the look of the designer paper lost the crisp clean look I was hoping for. Any suggestions on how to do this or what to use?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

I use Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive. I got mine at Archiver's, but I saw it at Wal- Mart in their new scrapbooking section. Comes in a round white bottlewith a red and purple label. This is good stuff! Sticks paper to anything!

I LOVE "Perfect Paper"... much better than Mod Podge. It is much thinner and easier to work with. No bubbles. You can find it at M's in the adhesive section!

Royal Coat Decoupage Medium...made by the same folks that make Mod Podge...Plaid...but way better...I have used it for 20 years now...would not use anything else...and have excellent results...I use everything from cardstock to tissue paper to do decoupage work...onto wood, terra cotta, plastic, and have even decoupaged walls in my home with fabric, using Royal Coat...some folks from Plaid even came to my house to see that...The fabric was still up on those walls, in perfect condition 5 years after I decoupaged them...then I sold the house...Royal coat is sealant based, not waterproof tho...and Mod Podge is glue based...

You could be putting the modge podge on to thick...you need to use many thin layers and make sure it is completely dry between coats..I have altered many things with mp and never had any trouble

I make a lot of picture frames and I really like to use a xyron machine on mine. I can even laminate it first then run it back thru with sticky then slap that sucker down. I've even run ribbon thru it to go around the edge, however I really like the glue made for cloth for ribbon on the edges of frames. It stays better and take handling better for edges. Have you found the great frames that the Dollar Tree sells? Gotta watch but every so often they have great flat ones that are perfect for so many projects. Dollar Tree ought to pay me for all the publiticy I give them.

The envelope glue works as well. I use a small bowl scraper to rub over the paper to get it to lay flat. It also dries alot faster than the Modge Podge.

What about using Perfect Paper on the chipboard coasters? Same principle?

I use modge podge and just carefully press it down and smooth it out as it dries. Also, if it doesn't lay smooth, a couple layers on top usually take care of that.
