Default stickers

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone out there uses store-bought stickers for their cards? I have drawers full of them and now that I've switched over to cards from scrapbooking, I'm wondering if I need them anymore. For some reason, I think they just look too 'heavy' for cards. Sure would like some advice. Thanks so much.

I use stickers quite a bit, especially on cards for my grandchildren. Here is one I just did:

Happy 5th Birthday Gloria! by buggainok - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

Here is another one:

Every Dog Has Its Day by buggainok - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

And here is one:

It's a Catnip Kind of Day by buggainok - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

I think if you mount the sticker on a cardstock scallop, square, etc. it can look really cute. I know many stampers have "disdain" for stickers, but I use what I like and think looks good. Many times stickers work very well.

Agree with bugga. I use what I want and what I have. I think they can be wonderful. Most people I send cards too have no idea if they're stickers, or if I have coloured them and fussy cut. If you love the sticker use them.

I use them too. I don't just slap them on though, that would be way too easy I mount them on cardstock, vellum, or whatever. And there is ALWAYS a gel pen involved!

Another option that works with some types of stickers is to de-stickify them by putting baby powder on the sticky side. You can then pop them up with dimensionals and they don't look like stickers anymore.

Traci had a great idea about popping them up on dimensionals. And I just wanted to add that it helps if you can just think of the sticker as your stamped image, already colored, and use it in the way you would use an image. Most of us would mat the image or frame it somehow, and that's what you can do with stickers.

Have fun!

When I am doing challenges and I don't have a particular image, I check my sticker files, and 4 times of five, I can use something from there. Doesn't mean I don't still paper craft around the sticker though! I use them most in the Teapotter challenges, just to give you a start...

If a sticker has more than one design element (like a bear with hearts) and you only want the hearts, you can cut them out of the design and use them. I've been known to take pieces out of stickers like that and use them in my design.

Wow - more great ideas. Last week I put ALL my stickers away and THIS WEEK I'm pulling them all out ...LOL So, the lesson I learned here is to check with the forum FIRST...

Thanks again everyone.

Wanted to add another reason to use stickers on cards. I have many grandchildren, and they frequently are in love with something popular at the time, but something you can't easily find a stamp for, or if you did, you wouldn't use the stamp again.

Stickers are the answer for this. Here is an Angry Birds card I made using stickers that I found for only a dollar. My granddaughter just loved it:

Oh, I like the pop up idea. I don't have a lot of stickers, but I have some that I just had to have because I think they are so cute and I never know how to incorporate them into my cards or ATC without making them look hokey - I am sticker challenged, but maybe not anymore after some of the ideas in this thread

So glad we've inspired you. Stickers of course don't replace stamping, but they can be used effectively to make some really nice cards.

I like to switch things up and use all kinds of different media in my artwork. I just got the cutest stickers of hamsters celebrating with a silver disco ball - hilarious - can't wait to use them on something and when you guys talked about pop ups, I thought about putting these guys and the disco balls onto the thingies that make images wobble 3d - they would be too funny

Flat stickers without any dimension could be used on your envelopes.
