Does anyone have directions for stamping on candles using the tissue paper method? Everytime I try it, my markers bleed on the tissue paper. Could it just be my tissue paper? Thanks!!!
I don't think its your tissue, though maybe if it is a loose weave maybe that will affect it. When I use markers, I don't color right to the line of the stamped image. I color in most of the image, wait a minute to see if it will run and how far, then I use the fine tip part of the marker and gently fill in.
Hope this helps.
try using a cheap glue stick for kids , and glue tissue to white card stock . Then color in. pull tissue off apply to candle and heat.
I glue tissue to white card stock ,run through my printer photos I want on candle, then pull of card stock and apply to candle. and heat with my heat gun .so easy.... I have photos on my blog. athttp://rosebudinnh.spaces.live.com/b...0AA!1387.entry
Thanks! I am going to try the cardstock. What a good idea to run it through the printer. I can't get to your blog though. Keep getting an error message. Thanks!!!

Talking about candles

making candle photos , real easy roll candle on tissue paper, to get the size, cut the paper. un roll. Stamp on the tissue paper with your favorite stamps. color with inks . Or print on the tissue paper using your computer. Use a glue stick to stick tisue to paper, only around edges. then print the way you normally do. Okay now you have your inked tissue of the image you want, get out your heat gun and heat the candle and roll the paper on. Shaping on the heat sheet and even out the wax, roll and heat.
I find that the candle heats and melts from the inside out and will, burn slow and steady, usally people dont want to light them. AS ALWAYS NEVER LEAVE A CANDLE UNATTENDED.
I'm making lots of these candles for Christmas this year and after all the decorating with either stamps or photos, I've decided that I'd hate to burn them. So, I "enslaved" my husband to help me this year. Using a hole saw attached to his drill, he hollowed out the white candles (I bought at the dollar store) about 2/3 down, then we put a battery-operated tea light inside (2 in a pack from the dollar store). So now I have 20 candles to light our walkway on Christmas Eve and I don't have to worry about them burning down too far or blowing out!
(If I did this right) I've added a couple of pics of my candles. Because they never actually burn, I was able to decorate them with lots of trimmies and not worry about it.
I use chalk instead of markers to color in the stamped images. Try it and see if you like how it looks; that way you don't have to worry about bleeding.

I've found that the tissue paper sold by Family Dollar has a slightly waxy finish on one side, which cuts down dramatically on the feathering from dye inks like what's in water-based markers.

Ok.. Maybe I am dense.. But, I am confused. LOL.. doesn't take much these days. When you apply the tissue to the cardstock does it not stick? I am trying to invision taking the tissue paper off the cardstock without tearing it.
I love this idea and the one with the tealight.. SUPER! Thanks for sharing.
You just apply the glue stick to the outer edges of the tissue paper/card stock. My pictures print in the middle of the page, so I just need to cut around them, you cut so close to the edges that you shouldnt have a problem.
