I got mine last week and I love it. Well... I think I love it. I think I'm going to use it for my craft pads and store it in my supply closet. The directions are good and it seems pretty sturdy.
I really only bought it to show at my Open House -- I'm almost certain I'll sell a couple so the investment is worth it.
I think it's a good value for the money. The top section is seperated into four bins -- one for each color group -- which I didn't see at convention but was surprised and impressed by.
I also thought it wasn't as big or bulky as some of the other storage systems I've seen that others have invested in.
Yes. But it's just a matter of stacking the trays on top of each other. They come nested for easier transportation. No tools are needed. Just stack the trays, place the bin on top and screw in the handle. It took about 3 minutes and that's with my DH "instructing" me how to do it. (And he was "instructing" wrong because he hadn't read the directions! :P )
I bought one and it seems like it should swivel more smoothly. It is a little hard to turn and I haven't even loaded it yet. Maybe it will be better when all the pads are in. Anyone else noticing this?
My friend brought hers over last night, and it is really wobbly, with all the stamp pads in it, it is still that way. I am going to go with a different kind that is more sturdy and more suitable for my desk.
It is cool but not suitable for my needs, glad I saw it first!
I won a stamp caddy at Convention. Although it does not turn easily, I like it. I do not have any of the "old" stamp pads but have asked someone to bring one to work so I can try it out. I also called Demonstrator Support and asked if the "old" stamp pads fit. He said they do not fit in as secure as the new pads do. If I get an "old" pad, I'll try it and post the results.
I received my "Color Caddy" last night, and was disappointed that it didn't swivel more smoothly. I thought I might buy one of the swivel-type trays that I store my spices on and place the 'caddy' on that.
I really like my caddy. I have both the old pad and new pads on it. The pads all fit great. That's a great idea about the revolving tray. I am going to try it.
I alos wished it turned more smoothly, but I LOVE having them organized. Since I don't have all the pads yet, it does lean toward to color familys I have more of. All the more reason to keep purchasing them.
Hi,
This is my very first time to post anything on this wonderful site. I really love this site. It is the best!
I received the stamp pad caddy today. I was so excited to get it put together. It didn't take long. I placed all of my pads in it and reinkers on top. It is very wobbly! It doesn't turn well at all. I was very disappointed in it!
After reading the comments posted I would have to conclude, from your own admissions, that the new stamp pad caddy does not perfom to acceptable standards. What's the point of having a turnable caddy that's a pain in the patoot to turn? Have any of you thought of contacting SU and complaining about the quality of the product????? For $60 it should turn beautifully and not be wobbly when loaded....It is a disservice to your customers and to SU to promote a product that does not meet even minimal expectations ---your customers will not appreciate shelling out big money for a poorly designed product.
Please hop to it, demos, and report this problem to SU.
I hope most of you see this post....I bought one also and when the instructions say turn handle until it clicks a FEW times it means a few if you tighten it too much it is hard to turn I myself tightened too much if you loosen it a few notches it turns much easier.....I read the instructions and thought "I will tighten it a FEW MORE times just in case" well it didnt turn very well once I loosened it it works great and seems very sturdy and was well worth the investment, I do have a few old pads in there and the fit but not as well as the new pads but I do love it and it is so nice to be able to see all my pads so easily!!!! I hope this helps!!!!!!!!
I must be in the minority here since mine, fully loaded with all the Craft pads, turns just fine. I will say, however, that it turns MUCH nicer if you turn with the handle at the top as opposed to just turning it pushing it.
I wonder if SU! will "improve" the design and sucker me into buying another one!
A friend of mine's husband (camsarasmom) makes beautiful wood ink pad caddies that aren't much more money than the new SU one. They hold 72 ink pads, plus there are two deep drawers on the bottom that can hold your reinkers, or whatever you want, and a "shelf" on top for holding more stuff. And they spin VERY easily. Oh I almost forgot, there are also pegs on the sides to hold ten wheels and six spools of ribbon. As a demonstrator I should bring the SU caddy to workshops, but I will probably still bring my wood caddy instead. It is much nicer than the SU one. Just my humble opinion.
I tend to agree... wooden ones are not much more than that plastic one that stampin up sells, so why would I buy a plastic one over a wooden one that should last forever.
I love my color caddy!! As koren-n mentioned, don't over tighten the handle and it will turn easier. It does hold the old style stamp pads. I wrote the names on the end with a sharpie. I don't have a stamping room-- I use my dining room and I need to be able to hide everything just in case... and this caddy fits in my pie safe! I just love the fact that the caddy is compact and revolving!!
Okay did a search to find more info on the caddy since my post was not getting as many responses as I thought....will do that from now on...
Jessica2872- does your friend have a website or do you have a picture you can scan and post? How much does he charge for the caddy?? Any info is greatly appreciated.
I am going to be ordering mine from a man in Canada who makes them of wood. He charges about $35 plus shipping and I can hang it on the wall. I have so little space and the wall is the most convienent place to put anything right now. I only have a corner of the living room so I am moving up instead of out.

I have had my Color Caddy for about a week and a half now. I was not impressed with it when I first got it. It is a little wobbly, but I can live with that. It is very sturdy while being wobbly...if that makes any kind of sense.
My caddy did not turn well in the beginning, but I made an adjustment to mine. I actually READ the directions and assembled it as they instructed. When attaching the handle, you are to tighten it only two clicks. Since unscrewing my handle and tightening it only two clicks, my caddy is easier to turn. After "turning" it for nearly two weeks, I have noticed that mine is turning a little more easily now.
I also emailed demonstrator support when I first had my problem and this is part of the message that they sent me: "The Color Caddy is not meant to 'spin' freely like a lazy susan would. The design is made so that it will 'turn'. We did not want it to spin freely as we were apprehensive that the stamp pads would not stay securely in place if the caddy spun too freely. We have tested the one we have here and you should be able to turn you caddy fairly easily."
After hearing what the intent of Stampin' Up! was for the speed in which the caddy spins, I have no problem with my caddy.
I absolutely LOVE the size of it. It is so much smaller than other racks so I have more space to work on my desk. It is easy to clean if you get anything on it and it really does hold the reinkers (and other accessories) on the top). Since I don't have all 48 colors of reinkers, I also use the top of my caddy to store mono adhesive, Crystal Effects, Liquid Glue, etc.
