I believe they only emboss. You can use them with the Spellbinders square cutting dies to achieve different effects.

Thank you, I thought I was going nuts., couldn't work out what I was doing wrong.
I think they are a bit of a waste money, if you can only emboss.

Since I had not seen this product, I went to YouTube and took a quick look at the Spellbinders' video from CHA. It looked to me like the product should cut and emboss. It won an award at the show, so someone loved it. If you are not getting the same result as they show on the video, I would try to call their customer service and see what they have to say. Good luck.

Hi.

Have had another look.

I think the original Imperial Gold dies did cut but the ones with 'Enhancing Elements' in the name only cut small elements within the pattern. They don't cut out the outline of the shape.

I think!

Here's the 'official' introduction to Enhancing Elements directly from Kim (the owner?) and Stacy (head educator?) of Spellbinders:

Thanks to everyone that replied. The lovely lady from spellbinders has told me that these dies only emboss and I watched the video she sent me and I have worked you use one a larger die that will cut the shap e.g. Square or oval and you place these in the middle and emboss it and it will give you a very elegant finish. Wow, at least now I'm not going nuts.

Hi friends!

The Spellbinders Enhancing Elements are the sets that emboss only (with tiny cuts for detail) and expand your current die collection. The Imperial Gold Dies are very detailed. The Cut, Emboss, Deboss, and Stencil. We recommend the use of Spellbinders Magnetic Placement mat for the best results. Depending on your machine... you can also try to use a simple cardstock shim.
