Default Sizzix Embossing Folder Difficulties...Help Please

I received the Sizzix wedding embossing folders today and was going to use the Forever and Always in my Cuttlebug. When I did it made the embossing almost look as if it were tore (it actually wasn't the raised part just looked funny). I used 110lb and 120 lb card stock and it did the same on each. Is there a trick....any advice?

The Sizzix folders are definitely thicker than the CB folders, that's for sure. I wonder if you tried lighter weight paper if that would help. Or take one of your cutting pads out of the mix and experiment with different chipboard shims. Anything to reduce the thickness of the sandwich...

Wish I could help more, but I just don't use my CB anymore...

I have to go through the same thing in reverse until I find the right solution. I have the Big SHot and have tried a Cuttlebug Embossing folder, and it seems just like my Sizzix one's, but if I do a Quickutz or something else, it can be a bit frustrating finding the right thickness...just keep trying - you'll figure something out.

I experiment with different materials for shims too in order to get it just right....like a felt pad, thin cardstock layers, etc.

Maybe google it - that helps too.

Sorry couldn't be better help too!

I've heard that you can have this problem when using thicker c/s. I've also heard (but not tried) that *sometimes* if you give the paper a light mist of water on both sides before putting it through the CB that you won't have the problem. Perhaps it makes the paper a little more 'stretchy'? Dunno. But it might be worth a shot!

I had this problem. I put a second piece of cardstock in with the one I am embossing. No more problem. If you are embossing the card itself, use scraps or something you just don't like. If you are using a piece of cardstock cut to size and need lots of them, you'll get done a lot quicker because both pieces emboss nicely.

I always mist with water and feel like I get a crisper cleaner emboss.
