Default Shadowing with copics

Could anyone please tell me how you put a shadow underneath your stamped image? I have seen cards with a gray shadow underneath the stamped image and wasn't sure if there was a tutorial out there in cyberspace for it or if anyone here may have used this technique.. Any feedback would be awesome! Thank you so much!

In the class I took recently they used the color cool grey to go around the outline of the stamped image. Is that what you are speaking of?
