Cool Removing old stamps from wood blocks

Hi all!

I am new to this site and just purchased by first set of stamps:-D and have a question. I have heard that there is a product out there that you can put on the back of your stamps that allows you to put them on and take them off clear blocks for better stamping. I also have old stamps that are glued on already to the wood blocks, and I would now like to remove those so I can store them better in a binder on clear acetate. Does anyone have any secrets or helpful hints as to how I can accompish all of this? I have heard you can use whackatack or something by Aileens but aren't sure how to get the old stamps off the wood and get those and my new stamps (Yipee) to stick to the clear blocks yet when I'm done be able to take them off and put in my binder. Yikes, hope I haven't confused you all.

Hope this isn't too confusing. I've been reading all of the advice on this site and am really enjoying my new world of stamping!

Thanks for any help you all can give me. I am looking forward to visiting this site often.

Smile converting wood stamps

I purchased mine on ebay, its called EZ Mount and it has a built in cushion with super, super sticky on one side and clear film on the other. The best way to apply it has been to draw an outline of your trimmed stamp on the super sticky side, cut it out peel, apply and do some clean up trimming. The only downside to this is it gums up your scissors pretty good, but goo gone works wonderful to take it off. Best of Luck!

Default removal

I forgot to add the removal part-every wood stamp I converted was pretty easy to do, you just peel them right off! Go slow and it should go fine.

For gooy scissors, you could also use "undo". They sell it at so many stores now. You can also use it to peel photos off of scrapbook pages, like if you have an ooops! It can help with getting photos off those old nasty "magnetic" photo album pages too. My husband likes to use goof off to get goo off of things. The only thing is that it smells horrid when you're using it.

I usually don't have any problem pulling my stamps right off the wood, but if it doesn't want to peel away, a couple of seconds in the microwave works great.

EZ Mount is good, also Creative Cling (TAC sells it), but I find that if I just paint a little Aleene's Tack it Cver and Over on the back of the rubber, it sticks fine to the acrylic blocks and doesn't need any foam.

Default thank you!

For all of the wonderful advice and suggestions. I went to Michaels and bought this product call Aileen's tack it. Hopefully this is one you were talking about.

Thank you all again for making a gal feel welcomed in a forum! :p

Juliet,

I tried using the Aileen Tack over and over and when I tried to put them on my plastic sheet for storing, they stuck so much that I lost some of the foam on the back of the stamp. What did I do wrong. Should I have not put it on the plastic backing for storage. I find that they stick to the acrlyic blocks ok and I can get them off, but when I tried to store them on the plastic (white/ez mount storing board) they stuck to that and I had to really pull to get it off. Anyone have any advice as to what I had done wrong. Could I have put too much tack it over and over on the them (stamps)? Should I use the Undo to get all of it off so I can try another solution? I'm afraid I'm going to ruin the reat of my stamps if I leave this on.
Any help would be appreciated.

I never used the Aileens. I peeled only the red rubber stamp-not the foam- off and mounted it to the EZ Mount only-which includes the foam system. Sorry you are having so many problems.

You can remove your stamps off a wooden block by placing it 3min in your microwave and it should peel right off.
