Printing on transparency film

I read somewhere that someone printed photos on transparency film instead of stamping for the clear glass Christmas ornaments. I tried it today and the faces were all distorted. Is there a certain kind of transparency film to print on? I have 3M for copiers. Thanks.

I have an ornament in the gallery that I made with a photocopy of a picture on a transparency. I have tried to do the copies at home, but with no luck. I took my picture into Kinko's and for whatever reason, it came out great. Maybe I should ask there what kind of transparency they use.....

Typically copy machines can have trouble pulling the transparency material through the rollers evenly. It often happens with our school copier. The professional printing places may have better copiers or use a different type of printer.

Grafix InkJet Transparencies are specifically designed for ink jet printing...Grafix also has transparencies for lazar printers and copiers, and a third that is suitable for both ink jet and lazar printers.

The images on these transparencies are perfect.

Go to the Grafix site (www.grafixarts.com) for more info. Not sure, but I think Hobby Lobby sells them.

Nancy, I am pretty sure I have seen the Grafix at AC Moore. I will look Tuesday when I have to go to Hickory. Thanks for the other suggestions about going to my local copy place. Love the samples I have seen. My grandson is giving his girlfriend a diamond for Christmas, so I especially want to do one for them!

you have to change your printer settings to transparency. by doing that, it deposits less ink on the the transparency

I have printed on a transparency with my oki 5200 with no problems. The brand was 3M.

I have the ink jet transparencies, but my printer has no transparency setting. I even looked thru the "advanced" options and didn't see anything. I sent an email to Epson asking for advice, but only got the autoresponse, no reply.

My first and last attempt to print a transparency on my inkjet was a juicy, blobby mess.

I was trying to avoid going to Kinkos, but I think I'll have to ;)

Not sure if the same thing is happening to you Jen but I was using Ink Jet transparencies - but had them in upside down. The ink needs to go on the rough side. Once I turned the transparency over - it worked fine.

No, I was definitely printing on the rough side. I think it's a printer issue. I was browsing cling films on ebay, there's a printable type, and the listing specifically says "not for Epson Durabrite printers."
