Default poppin' pastels - stupid question??

When you do the poppin pastels technique are NOT supposed to have the swirled color effect from where you applied the chalks? Mine has the swirled colors around the versamark stamped image. I see some cards in the gallery that has that effect and some don't. Am I doing it wrong? Or is that just another way of the technique?

What are you using to apply the chalk? I've found that the sponge daubers give a much better effect than the q-tip like things that come with the pastels.

HTH!

I use the sponge daubers and I notice that I still have the 'pastel haze' around my images. Any ideas of how to remove this haze?

I always thought that "haze" was part of the technique! I actually like the halo effect.

If you don't like the "halo" effect, you can use the eraser that comes with the pastels; it erases very clean with no smudges.

Halo is definitely part of the effect... Poppin Pastels is one of my favorite techniques... I LOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!! And I agree with the others that the eraser works well when you want to diminish the halo and the Sponge Daubers Rock ... I only use the daubers and leave the applicators for smaller sections or detail.

Here's my sample... all done with chalks... this went on the display boards at Convention last year.. I was SOOOOO EXCITED!!! It had pictures in it.
