Default Masking tape technique

There's 2 different techniques.
One is faux leather. You tear pieces of masking tape and cover the entire piece of cardstock. After all the cardstock is covered take a classic ink pad of your choice and rub all over the tape. Then emboss it with clear embossing powder and a heat gun. If you want more than one color you can sponge other colors on before embossing. I have noticed if you use the classic black, the card will turn out to be a deep purple, like concord grape color. If you want it black use black embossing powder.
The second way is to tear masking tape into strips. Place randomly across the cardstock going in different directions. You do not cover the entire piece. Just a few strips. Then sponge on any colors of your choice. Then use black ink to randomly stamp words or designs. After stamping anything you want, peel masking tape off.
Hope this helps.
Happy Stamping!!

Default masking tape technique

One thing to be carefull with when doing the masking tape techniques is tearing your cardstock when removing the masking tape.
You can also use painter's tape which isn't as sticky. I remvove some of the adhesive by taping and removing the masking or painter's tape on my skin or slacks a few times before tearing it. It still adheres to the cardstock but comes off easier.

yup, my first masking tape card I did I tore the cardstock I was mainly in a hurry to see the end results Now I do the same, take off some of the stickyness to the tape then apply it to the cardstock. The results are always amazing on that technique

When I first tried the masking tape tech. I didn't use embossing powder and what a mess I had!!! :( Every time I tuch the cards I had ink all over my hands , then a freind told me to use embossing powder over it (duh) and now I love it again Also, if your going to rub your ink pad over the tape, I only rub on the first color, then I sponge on the other colors. That way you don't muddy your ink pad with another color. Have fun and hope this helps some!

What is the purpose of removing the masking tape from the original piece of cardstock and then transferring just the masking tape to another piece of cardstock. Isn't it just simplier to cut the original piece to the size that you need?
