Okay, dumb questions here. When you adhere the paper to the tins.....I know you use the 'sticky strip' and then Mod Podge to protect....but....does the sticky strip go on the whole sheet of paper or just at the ends? And, could I use my Xyron or is it not strong enough? What about Mod Podge as adhesive and protectant? I'm finally going to bite the bullet and do one of these, but, I don't want to totally screw it up before I even begin. TIA for all your help!!!!
if you use mod podge at all, then all adhesive has to be mod podge. If not, it will cause it to bubble and look bad. At least this has been my experience.
I have used sticky strip, my Xyron, and Mod Podge. Emily is right about using Mod Podge as both the adhesive and the sealant. I have to say that using the sticky strip makes the project more tedious than expected. And using the Xyron... well, that's tricky because you want to use permanent adhesive. However, your paper is large and you have to get it on the lunch box just right. And if you don't, you're hosed. Fortunately, I only used my Xyron for the inside lid part, which went on nicely. However, it definitely underscored for me that never want to use it for the outside paper!!! I think I'll be sticking (no pun intended) with the Mod Podge. Now all I have to do is figure out how much to use. I've been going too heavy on it, which also causes the paper to bubble. I find that using MP with cheaper paper is also disasterous! Use quality paper.
I use my Xyron to adhere the paper to the tin. But do not tear off the entire xyron backing. I start by tearing off just a strip down the center of my piece of paper I am going to adhere. Then I line up this piece on the front of the tin and press in place. Then I tear off the backing on each side one at a time and press in place. This works really well for me and I don't have any problem getting the paper on the tin straight.
what sizes seem to be the most popular size to buy for these tins.and what size are the cards inside each tin.I want to get a size that I can use for a certain thing Like perhaps my cd cases.will they fit in one of these.

OK maybe this is a silly question and I have been out of the SCS loop for too long -- where do I get the lunchbox tins, how much can I expect to pay and what size cards do I make for the inside? I think this sounds like a great idea for a shower gift!

For those who have access to Provo Craft Products (based out of Utah) the size I bought for A-2 size envelopes and cards was 7" wide, approx. 3 1/2 " deep and 5" tall (Including lid). It opens from the top, has a black acrylic handle and is a rectangular shape. Mine was sale priced through Robert's Crafts for $3.24 plus tax . This size has plenty of room for my cards and envelopes.
